Charge 3 battery draining fast

My HR Charge 3 doesn't seem to hold its charge for longer than 3 days, is this a common fault. Was working well until 2 weeks ago holding charge for 7 days.

This, apparently, is a design limitation.  Lines across the display and battery life that drops to a few hours instead of a few days are the same that I have recently experienced.  I had one unit replaced already last year.  Just had that replacement unit do the same thing (though the O2 sensor didn't stay on 100% of the time like the last one did).  I have another unit (Charge 3) that I haven't used and I am using that as my "replacement."  I have had good response from Fitbit in the past, but even though the Charge 3 is still being sold I suspect its days are numbered and I'm not going to ask for another replacement.

Wherever the weakness is to allow water to get in (I suspect it's the sensor panel and the seal associated with it), the lines across the display indicate an internal short that is draining the battery.  It could be that wearing in the shower (as I have with this unit much of the time and I got longer life than my first unit) may allow the shower spray to hit it just in the right way to allow liquid in. I also suspect that the components in sweat and sunscreen may help breakdown the seal on the back of the unit.  When I removed the strap from the ends of the unit...yuck.

What is the difference between water resistant and water proof? How is it resistant to 50 meters, if it can’t even get sprinkled on? Confused? Sorry for my ignorance. It’s the simple things that throw me?

I thought I had it fixed but it started dying fast again. I would just try
and get a replacement if you haven't passed the one year warranty. Also if
you get a new one make sure the charger is low voltage like a 1amp or the
USB on your computer. Don't use a fast charger

Lets try and explain the difference between water proof and water resistant.

A Waterproof material or product is one which is completely impervious to water penetration. No water can get in or out of the product or material. A waterproof material or product is able to provide sustained protection from water for a significant period of time.

A Water resistant product or material can prevent water penetration to a certain level. It is not completely impervious to water penetration, but can stand limited exposure to precipitation.

Water-resistant materials can only provide water protection to a certain level. They are good in conditions where exposure to water is limited. Most water-resistant products such as jackets, shoes, and watches are meant to be worn in conditions such as snowy and rainy environments. They are labeled water-resistant since they can be used under limited precipitation. They cannot stand water to great depths. For products such as watches, water-resistant means that they can stand some short periods of exposure to water, such as an accidental dip into a sink – but must be immediately removed from the water.

Waterproof, on the other hand, describes materials or products that can stand complete submersion without taking in any amount of water. They are suitable for camping, swimming, snowboarding, diving, and many more activities since they can be waterproof to great water depths for a long time. The nature of a waterproof product or material is that it is made with absolutely no holes or pores that might let in water. These products are specifically made for use in environments that have plenty of water. However, on the market today, there are a lot of products that are labeled waterproof but aren’t really waterproof – especially electronic devices. This is especially so because different products have different ‘scales’ or ‘levels’ that determine what should be labeled as waterproof or water-resistant.

Hopefully the above gives you some insight.

Kind regards

Gazzer Mac

My battery is flat by the end of the day. The first week I had it I had to charge it once now it’s not lasting 10 hours. Only had the device a month. Should I return it! Never had a Fitbit before I’m quite disappointed. It’s a charge 3!!

Thanks!

Me too! It started happening yesterday and, since this morning once removed from the charger at 06.25, the battery drains to 1% within less than an hour. Throughout the day the battery keeps draining within 10 minutes of charging. Absolutely useless. This Charge 3 was bought on 30th May and has been in use since the evening of 31st May, marginally longer than yours but not by much - 5 weeks and a few days.

I am finished with Fitbit, when each of your charge threes take a dump
within 6 months, it's not just a fluke, and then they have the audacity to
include me in a heart research thing and I can't even get a Fitbit to run
more than 6 months I'm not even abusing my charge 3's

Same exact thing just happened to me. I hope someone responds! 🤞

I had three watches replaced in 12 months, the fourth time I bought a
Garmin instead of replacement. I suggest you return it for credit and get
another brand.

Yes I agree mine isn’t even 2 years old and it’s playing up already. It’s great when it’s working but so frustrating when it plays up... especially when on a challenge 😡

Oh no that’s awful especially as the item isn’t cheap. It seems to be a common fault with the charge 3. 😡

I recently updated my charge 3 based on the suggestion on the app (update available it said). Since then, my charge 3 battery drains so fast. I tried everything that’s suggested out here from rebooting to draining it then charging again, turning off notifications, etc. The only thing I can’t find on my app is to turn off auto sync which I don’t have the option. It only has sync and no option to turn it off. Can someone help me with it? Thanks!
