Charge 3 battery draining quickly can no longer start any activity

I got my Fitbit Charge 3 as a very special gift in April 2019. It started acting up by December 2019, but I restarted it and it was working better again.

During this time I noticed the battery started draining quite fast, but it charged faster as well so I just did so more often. I loved this device and used it to track everything. Steps, heartbeat, sleep, exercise even used the stopwatch and alarm on the daily. 
By March 2020 I could no longer use the device properly. I wanted to return the device to Cape Union Mart where it was purchased, but then the hard lockdown level 5 came into effect.

A few months went by and I managed to visit Cape Union Mart when they were open again. They told me that the factory that does the restorations are not yet operational and I should return at a later stage. I asked about the warranty now having lapsed past 12 months, but they assured me that under the current circumstances they will certainly make an exception. Visiting the store again in December the message was the same. The factory is not yet open please return next year. And so we did. We returned in January with the device and explained everything once again and there we were informed that repairs are no longer done on these devices. They will not be sending it in for repairs and will not be able to offer any assistance at all. They provided a form to complete, but nowhere to email, post or submit it to. 
I have in the meantime cleaned the device (again), restarted three times (and more), rebooted, reset and updated.

The device still loses charge super quick (within an hour or so it is flat). It does not register my heartbeat, steps or any other tracking. It seems to sync fine with my phone and the clock is working... but that is all that is working.

I no longer know what to do as really need some assistance as I truly love my Fitbit device. It helps me so much with my daily tracking and finding good balance.

 

Update: 

I also just realized that after the last update I can no longer start any activity other than the rest one.

No running, yoga, interval, kickboxing. It gets stuck on the “Let’s go” screen and I then have to restart the device to leave that screen.
