Charge 3 black lines on the screen

My Charge3 has several black horizontal lines on the screen (assuming dead pixels?) that have started appearing this week. I have tried restarting my device a few times, fully charging it, and changing the clock face. None of this has helped. Does anyone have any other ideas that may help?

The device also has not been the best at sleep tracking since these appeared.  And lastly there is a massive delay in displaying my calorie burn on the app. Not too sure how this happened as the FitBit was completely fine a week ago. (Device purchased in February).

Appreciate any insight and thank you in advance!

A quick update that I received a replacement FitBit today to resolve my issue!

Quick question... what is the best way to recycle the old one? Send back to FitBit or dispose of like any other electronic device?

Hi there @PS9939, @Iceman2512, and @Wesley_949, thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear that you already received your new Charge 3.

To answer the question, we do not have a return center to recycle or give the device to someone else, however we advise you to take the device to an electronic facility program or you can consider to give it to someone else, such as a relative from you.

I'll be around if there's any further questions. 🙂

I also have this problem with my wife's Charge 3.  Several horizontal black lines across screen, with the number increasing over the past few days.  It looks like dead pixels.

The watch reports software version 28.20001.6

I have rebooted the watch several times and have tried changing the clock face.  Neither of these have helped.

Hi,

I have been seeing black horizontal lines in my Charge 3 for a few weeks now. It even hides part of the step counter at the top of the main clock screen.

This seems to be a frequent issue in the community as I found several posts for the same issue.

I have only had my Fitbit since March 2020. How can this be resolved?

Thanks,

Céline

Mine not fixed yet. Still waiting for the Support Team to reach out to me. They have contacted me yesterday but only asking me where I’m residing. I think they are checking my warranty status.

I simply rang them up, explained the problems and said where I purchased it and it was within the warranty as only 7 months old. I then received an email and completed the options on the link sent and 2 days later i received a new Fitbit charge 3. I would do it the same way rather follow the support route by email.

Hello MarreFitbit,

I have had some similar issues. First my Fitbit was constantly vibrating and switching back and forth between the main screen and the notification screen and would not restart. I looked up a few other posts and found that plugging it in and resetting it that way worked, but after the reset, I now have horizontal lines throughout the screen and I am unable to read the time. My Fitbit is less than a year old and I am unsure of how I can fix this. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thank you

Hello MarreFitbit,

I hope you are keeping well?

My Fitbit is having the same issue as mentioned by other forum users here. It started as a single black line and now there are several black lines. I have tried restarting several times, fully charging and trying different clocks, as suggested by other users here but to no avail. More black lines come every few days.

Is it possible to open a support ticket to get in touch with the support team please?

Many thanks in advance.

Paul

Two of my Charge 3 trackers had the same fault, black lines, faded, and one of these trackers was weeks old.  One was replaced by Fitbit, the other is been sent back to CurrysPCW.  Bought an Apple Watch instead and is more reliable.

will NEVER use Fitbit again.  The Charge 3 should be recalled as it’s designed to fail as everyone is having the same/similar issues and Fitbit are not doing anything.

Ive lost faith in Fitbit.

charge 2 was the best tracker.

I am having the same problem.  One day it was fine and I charged it and the screen went crazy.  Have white lines going up and down and black across.  I have tried the things suggested on this site and on googling. Nothing has made any difference.  Would love any other suggestions.

Hi everyone,

Fitbit has replied me, just to update everyone here.

As long as your tracker still under warranty, then they would do something for you (like a replacement). If your tracker is no longer in warranty, they just apologized to you, and hope you would buy new Fitbit from them again.

My lines Charge 3 is actually a replacement, as previous one had battery issue & was stilll under warranty. The replacement Charge 3 is about 1.3 years old.

They never address the lines issue, even though it’s obvious that it’s the Charge 3 model developer issue. The Team can see tones of similar issues (and other common issues such as battery life) have been brought up in this forum yet they ignore their responsibility.

Guys, buying a Fitbit you gotta have better luck. You must pray that your Fitbit’s issue arises within the warranty period, otherwise you gotta mentally prepared the Fitbit tracker you buy is only worth as long as the warranty. In many case, it’s only 365 days! So kindly do your math and calculate if it’s still worth to buy a Fitbit, paying the price for only peace of mind for 1 year, or considering other option than can lasts for 4-5 years like Garmin.

My Charge 2 is still going strong since 2017. But it may be time to bid farewell to Fitbit family of 3 years.

regards,
Coral

I have the exact same issue. After 1.5 year, completely out of the blue, started having draining battery problems, also syncing issues, and a black line appeared overnight. I tried contacting the support channel but to no avail 😢. I am not even sure I am entitled to a guarantee (purchased from local store in Greece)

Hi there,

my Charge 3 is the same since a week now. Multiple black lines across the display and for some reason I think its sensor is not working properly anymore. It’s been telling me that I’ve been working out for 12 hours a day and only get 3 hours of sleep which is not the case. I rebooted it but nothing has changed so far. What can I do?

I also have developed black horizontal lines on my charge 3. I contacted customer support on August 4th and was told that as I had exhausted all the fixes I was eligible for a replacement charge 3 or 50% off a charge 4. I opted for a replacement charge 3. This was arranged and I got notification that there would be another message when it was despatched. I heard nothing for a week until I emailed them then they wanted additional purchase information etc and today they want me to send my charge 3 back before they progress with a replacement. I'm not happy with this service having been a fitbit customer since 2017.
