Charge 3 black screen and continuous vibrate

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hey there! This morning I noticed that my Fitbit was set to a completely wrong time (hours and minutes) and when I went to fix it later, the screen was totally black and the button wouldn’t do anything. I’m able to hold the button and get a continuous vibration, but can’t get the screen to come on at all. Tried plugging in and holding down the button to reset with no luck. Any ideas?

Forgot to add - also won’t connect to Bluetooth, that was my first sign that something wasn’t working right.

Hi there @Punitarohra, welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

While reading your post I was wondering if this happens when you get any notification? Is your Charge 3 vibration repeatedly?

Please restart your Charge 3 by following the steps below:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

Please let me know if this keeps happening after the restart, I'll be around and glad to further help.

Hi Moderator Andrea,

I'm having this same issue on my Fitbit Charge 3. The screen is black and all I can use the button for is to get a continuous vibration from holding the button down.

If I hold it down it vibrates for 5-15 seconds and even if I hold it past that point, it will resume vibrating in a continuous fashion for several intervals of seconds but will never reset. Please help!

This Fitbit is less than 2 years old and I use it daily. It really bums me out this happened as I expected to have this product last longer. If the limited warranty was only for 1 year it makes me wonder if that's how long FitBit expects the product to function correctly for its customers.

Thanks for your help!

My fitbit suddenly went blank today. Then when I tried charging it and held the button, it continuously vibrates and does not restart. It sounds like the same issues that others have been having in this thread. Does anyone have any advice?

I've been using my fitbit charge 3 for over 1 year already.

Thanks!

I've tried plugging it in and holding the button for 1 minute and it just vibrates for that entire minute and doesn't restart. Is my Fitbit Charge 3 dead?

Hello everyone. @rharvey Welcome to the community forums!

Thank you for the detailed information and for any steps you've followed prior to posting. At this time, I was able to see that you tried to contact our Support Team through chat, but your chat got disconnected.

In this case, if you still require further assistance, I recommend trying to contact them one more time through chat or over the phone, but phone wait times have been longer than normal, so I recommend initiating a chat.

See you around.

I have experienced a similar issue this evening.  My Charge 3 started vibrating continuously.  The screen was blank and there was no response to my pressing the button.  I attached it to the charging cradle, the vibrating stopped and I attempted a soft reset.  There was a brief repeat of the vibration but no other response.  I attempted the soft reset several times but without success.  I then noticed that the device had become very hot and I removed it from the cradle.  It has cooled now that it is disconnected.

I would value your advice.
