Charge 3 black screen and gets hot when charging it

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Charge 3 was working perfectly one minute then I look down and it was a blank screen. It was at 75% charge last time I checked on it which was half an hour before it turned off. I went to plug it in and nothing happened, it didn't vibrate, the screen just stayed black. I thought maybe the battery died so I kept it plugged in for 2 hours, nothing happened, it just got really warm. I tried to press the button on the side in hopes to restart it, but again nothing happens, just a black screen. I don't know what to do. Should I keep it on the charger and wait to see if It'll turn on? Should I just send it back for a new one? Am I just wasting my time on this product?

They replaced it fairly quickly. All in all I was quite happy with the
overall customer service.

And the replacement process is slower than if you send it by courier on a
bike across the country. I shipped it on 11/20 & they're just preparing to
send me a replacement.

Spoiler
I'm having the same issue. It started with the white screen then after I rebooted if never came back on....just really hot while charging it...

Because it was still within the one-year warranty, they took it back, but
it took close to 2 months before I received a replacement.

Same thing happened here. The screen went black, buttons on side wouldn't work, so I plugged it in (even thought I knew the battery wasn't dead) and got a smiley face on the screen. Checked it in a few hours and the screen was dangerously hot. At present, I'm away from home (and my receipt) for several weeks. It has definitely been less than a year since purchase. Will I have to provide a receipt for replacement, or is my on-line registration enough?

They seem to verify information through your FitBit account anyway, so you will be fine contacting them sans receipt.

Just message them and they will replace it. I didn't have a receipt.

Had a Charge 2 - after sometime the strap clipping mechanism on one side malfunctioned making it come loose. Several times I replaced the straps but it happened again so that I almost lost the charge 2. Instead I chose to upgrade to charge 3 but I have since suffered this screen black out, battery won’t charge and seriously overheats problem. Need help!

I miss my Charge 2 - other than the loose strap I had no problems with it. That said, you're only recourse now is to contact support, they're likely to put you through some kind of rigmarole before ultimately sending you a replacement. So, contact them sooner vs. later.

Thank you very much. I’ve tried to contact support via live chat, and
that’s not working. Guess I’ll have to call them and sit on hold.

If it's within the one-year warranty, they'll take it back, BUT it's a
two-month wait before you get another one...

I contacted the help then did the chat. I did have to wait for a while. She asked me a series of questions and tried to troubleshoot the problems. Of course nothing worked so she emailed a postage label for me to ship my broken Fitbit back for replacement. I will update when I receive it. Thanks to everyone who told me to use the help/support/chat. I don't mind the wait! I need my Fitbit!!! 😆

Thanks Coley.

I emailed and have since been contacted by Support less than 48 hours later; so pretty quick.

I have answered a couple of questions asked and hope I will soon be taken out of my current misery trying to go about life without my Fitbit!

Cheer!

Mine is doing the same thing right now. Face is completely black, won’t turn on, won’t vibrate or anything. It got really hot on the charger before I realized It wasn’t working. I’ve tried plugging it in and hitting the button to restart it and nothing happens. I love my Fitbit. Now my husband wants to get me a Apple watch. I need to fix this so I don’t get a new watch that I don’t want.
