Charge 3 black screen and unresponsive

My FitBit Charge 3 died earlier today whilst i was at work. I placed the device on charge for over an hour and a half and the thing is still unresponsive. No battery indicator on the screen, no vibration when plugged into charger. I have only had the device for less than a week.

Can you please advise ASAP

I had my charge 3 for about 3-4 weeks and today the screen went blank. The green lights are flashing and Fitbit app is able to sync. I tried to restart it by charging it and pressing the side button for 8 seconds but nothing happened

Can anybody help me to get it fixed please ?

I have the same problem. Happened this morning!

Hi,

My issue was resolved. First I plugged the charger in another charger and then kept the side button pressed for 8-10 seconds and got the smiley face 🙂

Hope your issue gets resolved too

Regards

I'm having the same issue. Face is black and I can't get it to turn back on.  I charged it this morning, it syncs with my phone, I feel the vibrate when I push the button, and the green light on back flickers when I take it off my wrist, but then goes black.  I'm at work and my charger is at home.  Is there any way to resolve this without putting it back on the charger?  I had the original Alta for 2 years with no issues, and I've only had this Charge 3 for a few months and, frankly, I'm a bit disappointed -- it also will not display the weather, says my "sleep is not tracked" although it shows tracked on the app, and I don't get my notifications of texts and calls......do I just have a dud?

Hi CCurie,

I am afraid you need the charger. Although this morning I could not even reset it with the charger, when I was at work, I tried again. After some attempts with only vibration responses, it suddenly showed a progress bar on the screen. After two times the smiley appeared and it worked again.

I noticed that sometimes it helped to wait a bit. I don’t suggest to wait forever but a couple of times I had issues and didn’t have time to deal with it right away, and after some time it worked or could be reset.

you can always contact the support if it’s not solved!

@HarisAhmed, glad to hear the issue was resolved!

@Imjacqueline@wenlin did you try the restart while it's on the charger? Check out my post here for details.

@CCurrie@Siy I see you tracker synced an hour ago. Is it working correctly now?

@Avanyan thanks for your assistance here!

Hi, Fitbit has sent me an email on how to restart charge 3. however even I followed the instructions, it still does not work nor show any progress. what I did was: while charging, hold the button for 8 secs... let go of the button, then nothing is still being shown. help! and yes there is still vibrations!

I am disappointed with it as well. I think Fitbit needs to take a look at
it personally.
I had to put mine back on the charger a second time, do the hold the main
button down until the green smiley face shows.
For whatever reason I had to recharge it again, even though it showed
charged just a few minutes earlier. But it has worked since then.
I hope this helps.

My Charge3 is also having a black screen. When I push the button on the side, I can feel the vibration, but the screen remains black. Help! I have had it less than 1 month! It was a Christmas present.

I've got the same issue:

  • Charge 3, a couple of months old
  • Suddenly the screen is always black, no matter what
  • Green LED flashing in the underside constantly, monitored it today and it's been flashing at least 8 24 hours straight
  • Vibrates when I press the "button"
  • Vibrates when I connect to charger
  • Charged overnight, no help
  • Tried rebooting, no help, nothing happens after pressing the button for over 10 seconds
  • Does not sync, app on iPhone says "Looking...", rebooted phone to no avail

Now what? Smiley Sad

Update:

While sorting out the problem with the most helpful Fitbit Support, they gave me instructions for a long reboot. That didn't solve my issue, but I'll post the instructions here in case they solve someone else's:

A long restart:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again

Nopes.  What they told me was a work around with which my fitbit booted up.  Recently second time the same happened again but there is no permanent fix so far

None of the fixes worked, unfortunately. I'm waiting for a replacement.

I am very satisfied with Fitbit support though, I'd suggest to contact them directly.
