Charge 3 blank screen & it won't sync

hello,

my charge 3 didnt sync to the app since 30 of april, so i tried to sync it yesterday by turn the bluetooth off and on again and by restarting my phone. it worked for a while but then the charge 3 screen went black and didnt sync to the app anymore.

i tried retsarting my charge 3 several times and got a smiley icon but the screen still doesnt work. also tried all the solutions offered here for syncing charge 3 to the app but nothing works.

Welcome on board @kathyvig! Thanks for the detailed information about your Charge 3's behavior and for taking a look at the Community Forums to find a solution for the blank screen on your device. 

 

I'd recommend restarting your Charge 3 once more, but this time leave your device into the charging cable for 15-20 minutes. Then restart it by following the steps below:

 

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display. 
  4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

 

Give this a go and let me know the outcome.

hello and thank you for your quick relay,

I  tried the solution you suggested, but sorry to write it isn't working.  when connecting the device to the charger, the screen is still black and  the battery icon is not showing. there is a smiley icon after restart, but the device is still not working. 

also, the device does not sync to the app.

I have also tried all of the above fixes.  I can't change the clock face because my phone says it can not find my fitbit.  I get a smiley face when I have it on the charger and hold the button for 8 seconds, but then it just goes away, and still nothing.  What can I do?

I have had the same issue since 5pm last night.  Blank screen, will not respond to restart steps (I do not get a smiley face), does not sync with iphone app and device is not found, but it vibrates when I take it off the charger uncontrollably.  I waited on hold with Fitbit support for 30 minutes today and no one helped me, and I had to get back to work so gave up.  I can’t even open a ticket if Fitbit doesn’t take the call.  I leave to go out of the country on Saturday and can’t wait long for a resolution.

Fitbit ended up giving me a new one after doing the online chat and steps thank goodness!!

My Fitbit is dead as of today. I'm sure it's out of warranty as well, since they spent months telling me that it was my phone having problems, not their app or device. I'm certain they're not going to replace it.

My screen has also gone blank. this has happened before and I reset it with no problems. This time it won’t reset all the way. The bar doesn’t even fill up 1/3 of the way and it stops. The lights on the back of the face have also stopped. It does, however still vibrate when I push the button, so I know it’s not dead. Help! I feel naked without it!

My fitbit display is also black and won't display anything.   The red light in the back is stuck on.  It won't sync and won't restart.  It vibrates when I press the button.  I think it is due to a bad software update.  I have tried all listed solutions without success, and now it is stuck unpaired and no display to view the pairing code.  Fitbit says the warranty is expired.  I have owned 4 fitbits and enjoyed having them,  but they have all had issues resulting in them being unusable.  I am extremely frustrated and disappointed in the product.   Hopefully potential customers become aware of the frequency of problems fitbit has.  Many others I know have also had many problems with fitbits and will not buy the brand anymore.

having the same problem. screen is black. i charge it red light flashes. And is no longer syncing to the phone??

I am having the same issue with my charge 3 screen going black and now I can not get it to sync or turn on. I have tried the suggestions already listed. I have held the button in and gotten the smiley face, but then nothing happens.
