Charge 3 brightness not working

Hi,

I’ve had my Fitbit Charge 3 since the beginning of 2019. It was given to me as a gift. I have not had a problem with it until the past few months. The brightness on the display is inconsistent. Sometimes I can read it, but mostly I can’t. I have gone to settings to change from auto to normal to auto to normal with no affect. Is there even a difference between the 2? I have rebooted multiple times with no success. It’s super frustrating. What can I do?

@jpear309, Welcome to the Fitbit Community.

I'm sorry to hear the brightness of your Fitbit Charge 3 is inconsistent. Thank you for switching between auto and normal settings and for restarting your Fitbit device before contacting us. The normal setting should make your device brightening all the time and the auto setting should increase the level just when you are in a location with poor illumination.

To further investigate this issue, I created a case with Customer Support. Please check your inbox on the next days. They will let you know how to proceed.

If you have any question, please don't hesitate to contact us at any time.

I'm having the same issue. I've switched back and forth as well and often times I can't see anything on my screen. I never had this issue with my charge 2.

Hi everyone,

I am experience the same issue, I have reset it multiple times to see if the brightness increases but i can fairly see it, in complete darkness I can see with difficulties in normal mode, if it goes to auto mode it turns darker that even you can not see it even in complete darkness. I have this problem for many months that I do not remember if the band came like this or it turned like this after a firmware update.

I too am having the same issue. Also, the font is too small. It appears from your votes that these issues won't be fixed, so could you please either refund our money or at least offer an exchange to a product that is readable. That would be good customer service.

Thanks for your feedback. I sent this information to Customer Support. They will contact you on the next days and let you know if you are eligible for a refund.

At the moment, there are no plans to increase the brightness nor the font size of the Fitbit Charge 3. If there would be any change, it would be communicated on the Feature Suggestions board linked above.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us at any time.

@rpalesti Welcome to the Fitbit Community.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having difficulties to see the display of your Fitbit Charge 3. If you haven't done it already, please perform a restart by following these steps. If this doesn't help, you can perform a long restart by doing the following:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again

Please let us know if you have any question.

Hi, I am having the same Brightness issue. I contacted Customer Service and have rebooted my Charge 3 several times. I cannot read the display no matter what Brightness setting I choose. Besides syncing and opening the Fitbit app to see information, the device itself has become useless for notifications, information, and even seeing the time.

Hi,
Since the warranty is over, they can’t do anything.

My understanding is the warranty is One year. Mine is less than a year old so I’m hoping it’s still covered under their warranty.

Did you go to settings and change brightness from auto to normal?
