The brightness settings on my Charge 3 seem to not be working properly. I tried all 3 brightness modes, when I set it to Dim, the screen goes completely dark, Normal and Auto seem to be the same, but neither one is very bright. The screen becomes completely unreadable when I go outside, even in the shade. It only works indoors. I tried restarting the device, doing a hard reset, and changing watch faces.

Good news!! I finally found a fix for this issue. I threw the Fitbit in the trash and went with another company that provides a fitness tracker that actually works.

After the new firmware update my wife's Charge 3 screen is set to auto brightness and the screen is faded. I have tried to restart it several times and nothing has worked.

I am having the same issue. It is so dim I can barely see it. Is there a fix? Or do I have to return it?

How do I resolve this lack of brightness since the last firmware update? I tried the resetting of the device, but it did not help.
I spoke to customer service and they want me to send back my device and wait a month for them to send me a new device. This is not customer service. They told me that this is not a known problem.

I have the same problem. My display shows not all the info when I am running. On the left or right site some info does not appear. Also my display is not bright. I hope this will be solved soon.

It has now been 4 month since my initial post and this issue is still not fixed with no word of a fix or patch in sight. My warranty has now expired so I have no hope of returning or exchanging the item (if that was ever possible).
Every time I run outside, I have to set the fitbit indoors then check it after my run since I can't see the screen in the daylight (even in the shade). For some reason as soon as I go indoors, the screen is super bright and clear again. Why is there no setting to just keep the brightness on high all the time, that would solve the problem, I don't care about the added battery drain.
Also my wrist band just broke, so that's another reason for me to hate the device. Never going to buy another fitbit again, and will tell all my friends and family about my experience.

It has been months. When is there going to be a new release of the firmware? I wish that there was a way to go back to the old version of the firmware.
Also, I do not get real-time display of my steps or heart rate on my phone since this firmware update.

I contacted Fitbit again and convinced them to replace my unit under the warranty. I don't know why this resolution was not offered to me on my first call - I asked at the time and they wanted me to ship back my unit and wait up to a month for a replacement. This time they sent out a unit in a couple of days.

So there is no solution for this problem
Jogger with wish compact you went on for a tracker that works actually.

I blame a firmware "upgrade" for my problems. I would have thought that the unit could have been fixed with a firmware upgrade. I am glad that I have the replacement unit and it is functioning properly.

You are aware of the product being faulty and to date June 2020 there are the same issues. You don't stand up to your product. I enjoyed it while it lasted. Time to move on to something else. Whst a waste!

It is now September 10, 2020. Is there no fix for the Brightness issue in the Charge 3 yet?? My screen is so dim the only thing I can read is the clock. And that’s after I changed the clock face several times to one I can finally see. When the brightness setting is Normal, it’s too dim. When set to Auto the screen goes black and I have to reboot in order to see anything. I recently talked my best friyint getting a Fitbit instead of an Apple. Thank goodness she got a Versa and not the Charge 3 I recommended. I hope her Versa doesn’t do what my Charge 3 is doing. I’m a retired senior citizen on a fixed income, I work out 6 days a week, get anywhere from 13,000 to 18,000 steps a day and don’t have the money to replace it. I need my Fitbit to work properly. Help please!

I got Fitbit to replace my unit - talk to customer service. So far, it is working fine. I was very apprehensive to do the firmware update a couple of weeks ago. The only change that I have noticed since then is that it uses up more battery capacity.
