Charge 3 calories burned accuracy issue

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My charge 3 is not accurate. It says I have burned 311 calories in the morning as well as 253 steps (numbers differ on the day) and I’ll only be wearing it for 5 minutes if that. I can’t reset it. I’ve updated it and synced it multiple times. Help.

I can explain the calories.

As well as tracking calories burned through activity your fitbit also tracks your BMR calories. These are the calories you burn just keeping your body alive (even when asleep). They are calculated from your profile settings for age, height, weight etc so you needn't be wearing your fitbit to get them. What you are seeing includes the total BMR calories burned since midnight.

Good morning:

My Charge 3 is less than a year old and it went completely bonkers on Saturday.  It's recording a heart rate of 157 beats per minute (not even close to my average heart rate), even at rest.  It's stopped recording sleep correctly.  I have done a hard reboot several times and installed the device twice.  It works for 5 minutes and then goes crazy again with the heart-rate and the active minutes.  I have finally taken it off because it's distracting.

What else can I do?  I have never gotten it wet (aside from rain).  Did a software update get pushed out recently?

Good morning! Yes I’ve updated mine twice now as it showed 2 updates in the last 2 weeks but that doesn’t seem to do the trick for me unfortunately but it’s worth a try for you!

Can you walk me through how to force a software update?  That is the only thing that is not abundantly clear.  Thanks!

On my main Fitbit screen it says to update and that there is a newer version available so I honestly just click that to update and it takes a good 30 minutes or so!

Do you have the Fitbit app? Because that’s where I find the updates.

I do have the app and just checked, my Fitbit is up to date.  Thanks for your help!

Hi all:

I just wanted to provide an update.  My fitbit was defective.  I put it in a drawer and it was still logging a heart rate of 157/beats per minute and 7,000+ steps.  I had to go through TORTURE with fitbit support to show them that I was telling the truth.  If you are having issues with your fitbit, make sure to go into your dashboard and get screen shots of when it was working.  Take pictures of your fitbit face to prove that it isn't working.  Finally, do secondary tests with a blood pressure cuff or other medical device.  It did take 4 days but I was given a rebate for my fitbit.  Thanks to everyone who helped!

Hi Wilson:

I have always kept my Fitbit Charge 2 around, even though it has a cracked face which I wish I could get fixed.  Still works as well as the day I brought it 3 years ago, I just can't wear it running in the rain.  It's doing a great job logging all my work until the new Fitbit comes in.

Thanks!
