Charge 3 calories information inaccurate

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have a charge 3 and basically haven't been using it for months because it's worthless without an accurate calorie count. My Charge 2 worked fine.

Here is what happens everyday. I have screen grabs of each description, but don't have permission to upload images.

December 26, 2019

8:42 p.m. 17,056 steps and 2,382 calories burned

10:54 p.m. 18,045 steps and 2,626 calories burned

At this point, I remove my Charge 3 and go to sleep.

The next morning, on December 27th, I check December 26, 2019

Steps 18,045 and 3,704 calories burned.

I can't possibly stay "in the zone" if its not counting calories burned throughout the day and crediting me 1,000 calories sometime while I am sleeping. I assume it happens just before midnight. This happens every time.

This is not the difference in calories burned and calorie deficit. My deficit is set up for 250 calories per day. If I do not sync my Charge 3, it gives me an accurate count, but as soon as I sync my app on my iPhone X, the app takes away calories.

A warm welcome to the Community, @Joey6565.

I understand how are you feeling and appreciate the information provided. Fitbit devices combine your basal metabolic rate (BMR), the rate at which you burn calories at rest to maintain vital body functions (including breathing, blood circulation, and heartbeat), and your activity data to estimate your calories burned.

If your device tracks heart rate, your heart-rate data is also included, especially to estimate calories burned during exercise. The number you see on your Fitbit device is your total calories burned for the day. Your BMR is based on the physical data you entered in to your Fitbit account (height, weight, sex, and age) and accounts for at least half the calories you burn in a day. Because your body burns calories even if you’re asleep or not moving, you see calories burned on your device when you wake up and will notice this number increase throughout the day.

Note that in certain regions, you see kilojoules instead of calories. To change your units of measurement, see the article: How do I change the units of measurement on my Fitbit device?.

Let me know if you need anything else. 🙂

Hello Alejandra,

I stayed up late to document the app/Charge HR 3 sync errors.

To keep this simple, I will briefly explain the photos in chronological order. I believe it is a iOS app issue and I am trying to help Fitbit fix the bugs.

Photo 1 is taken at 1125pm before I synced my Charge 3 HR with the iOS app. I have 2,928 calories burned.

Photo 2 is taken immediately after syncing with the iOS app at 1125pm. The app deducted 417 calories and displays 2,511 calories burned. The app and Charge 3 HR should not have a 400 calorie discrepancy.

Photo 3 is a screen grab of the iOS app after syncing the Charge 3 HR at 1125pm (2325 military time). It displays the same information as the Charge 3 HR

I REMOVED MY FITBIT AT THIS TIME SO ALL ACTIVITY REMAINS THE SAME EXCEPT the additional 46 calories added for BMR.

Photo 4 is a screen grab of the iOS app at 1159pm (2359 military time). Calories burned is displayed at 2,557 which accounts for 34 minutes of BMR calories burned equaling 46 calories as I took my Charge 3 HR off it is only accounting for BMR and no exercise.

Photo 5 is a screen grab one minute later at Midnight (0000 military time). Calories jumped to 3090 for the day before resetting to 0 for the next day. This 533 calorie jump in ONE MINUTE is not BMR.

Photo 6 shows the reset to 0 after midnight and the addition of BMR for 3 minutes at 4 calories.
