My charge 3 is syncing and connected to my phone.  However, when I try to log any exercise via shortcuts on the charge 3 it doesn't connect to my phone and therefore doesnt register the GPS or the elevation.

Hi @Lisacharge2 may I ask what phone are you asking about?

Does GPS connect when the app is open on the phone? Then fail when the app is moved to the background, or the phones screen turns off?

I have an iPhone XR. The exercise records fine on the app and records the route etc. 
The problem is trying to record using the charge 3 itself. When I go to the exercise screen on my Fitbit and choose walking and click start it shows it’s trying to connect to my phone. Previously it would show a tick to say it’s connected but I just get a x
