Charge 3 constantly vibrating and same day rapid battery drain

Last night my Charge 3 started to vibrate violently and I thought it was going to explode. The screen was completely blank. I took it off my wrist and clipped it to charge and got a message to say the battery was empty (despite it being charged that day).

I got some support from Twitter Fitbit Support who asked me restart and to fully charge it. Left it to charge to 100%. On the same day, within few hours the battery drained back to 1%. I did both a short and long restart and reboot and left it to charge again to 100%.

This afternoon, my Fitbit started to vibrate again and battery again completely empty. I've seen a similar topic about changing clock face but my clock face is a Fitbit one. And also follow battery saving tips always (i.e. prevent screen turning on when turning wrist, etc). The battery life should be up to 7 days for the Charge 3 and not within an hour or two.

Honestly, not sure what to do now?

Mine started to do pretty much the same thing. The main difference is mine keeps jumping usually the time then going back to the dnd/sleep thing. I have also rebooted it which is not easy with it jumping about!

Hi, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @Stephan91 @SteveLon

Thank you for the information you've provided regarding the problem that you've been experiencing with your Charge 3 and for confirming that you already tried the standard restart procedure described here.

Before considering other options, please make sure that you've also followed the steps listed here below to complete the long restart procedure, as this has been helpful to other users experiencing something similar:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

In addition, regarding the battery draining too fast, please make sure that you've followed the steps in this article to improve battery life.

Hope this helps, I'll be around.

Hi David, thanks for responding so quickly.  Unfortunately that didn’t work. And didn’t get the pattern of vibrations you said.  Actually I got a lot more! But I did get the smiley face and then the usual time and date. It seemed to be ok but then after about 30 seconds it started off again. I have tried this 4 or 5 times now.
I think the battery drain comes from screen to screen each with it’s own little vibration.

Oh and no progress bar

This was also suggested on Twitter (long restart). Got the bar, etc. It reset and was initially fine. Put it back on charge and the few hours later, vibrating again and battery empty. It's currently vibrating constantly now and getting really warm. When I clip it to my charger, get the battery low/empty message (see photo) despite it being fully charged before the vibrations.

Edit. My current Charge 3 is my second replacement. First one had lines through the top. And managed to get a new tracker via the warranty. Not sure I still have warranty as I got initially purchased it in 2019.
