Charge 3 daily steps on app don't match steps on tracker

I got new fitbit few weeks ago to replace my old one. But the daily steps on the app do not match actual.steps taken from fitbit. It does update overnight and matches the next morning. But throughout the day it is thousands over true steps taken. I've tried to sync but is still wrong until the next day. When I added this new fitbit I did as a replacement since my prior one was also a Charge 3.

When I sync it updates to (almost the just off by few ) correct steps but
as soon as I move it adds thousands of steps. I can go into the details of
current steps where you select day and it will be correct but on the home
page is wrong and on the week steps total is wrong. It updates sometime
over night as it I'd ok in morning.
