Charge 3 didnt auto track swim session?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Just purchased the Charge 3. It does say it has auto exercise recognition, however, I swam 50 25m lengths last night and it didn't acknowledge this as a swim, counted it as steps.

Previous had the flex 2 and this worked okay. Ideas anyone?

Yeah I do all that and it works fine. It just does not auto recognize swimming. My old Fitbit flex did.. charge3 is a step down

Charge 3 picks up swim sometimes. You can use the swimming feature under exercise to start and stop manually.

My C3 doesn't auto recognize swimming either.

However,

It does recognize the activity as a sport exercise session so when I change it from sport to swim, it logs in laps and distance. I can't vouch for the accuracy of the measurements, but I can live with those numbers if it remains consistent.

Yeah, that I know. It is quite accurate in “swim” mode except if using a kickboard, that it does not record. I’ve learned to live with it🤷‍:female_sign:

Well, they clearly haven’t solved the issue yet as I bought my charge 3 last week mainly to record my swims. So far it has not recognised any of them!

Yeah, I don’t expect it to get fixed. You just have set it to swim before you start😠

Im having exactly this problem and Ive checked all settings, rebooted.  Im really fed up with it as I cant use the manual record (I wear glasses).  I must be missing something here. Seriously wondering whether to ditch the Charge3.

Bbtewer45 it rarely autotracks swim sessions and I don’t think Fitbit are going to resolve this, they don’t appear to be doing much about it. I’m very disappointed, it’s not a cheap tracker so should do what it says on the tin. Fit bit are still advertising as an auto tracker 🙄75B21000-FEE7-4AAE-A112-49A2653BE380.jpeg

After a bunch of trail and error, here is how it works for me.

1) Be sure swim is listed as one of your auto exercises

2) swim

3) The session should be listed as something.(mine was listed as sport) Simply recategorize the exercise to swim

4) repeat the next day

5) on my third swim session it started to auto record as swim.

There were a couple hic cups in that if I did now swim for at least 15 min, it would not record (despite the fact that I have 10 min. minimums on my auto exercises). And one time where absolutely nothing was listed in the exercise box. So it is no where near 100% like running or walking. Or my 95 percent on my elliptical. Or the 80% on my bike. But for now I will take the 60-75%. For now . . . .

1 - it is

2 - I swim for 40 minutes

3 - no, only steps counted

4 - repeated for 6 months

5 - no auto recognising

6 - give up on recording swimming...

If you swam and the session was recorded as  . . .something . . ., (for me it was sport) but if your swim session was recorded as simply  "steps". IE you swam between 1:00 and 1:40 and your Fitbit recorded the session as steps between 1:00 and 1:40. Simple go in and change that session to swim. I had to do this twice before the tracker started to auto recognize my swim sessions.

I hope this clarifies.

I re-read your post and see your swim session did not recognize anything. Ah Ha. Well on my last swim session I had the same issue (remember 60-75% accuracy).  Today is too cold to swim ( Hi, my name is Dajjer and I'm a warm water wimp), so I will post later next week to see if the Fitbit is going to act right.

Seems like this is still happening in 2020. I was given the Charge 3 as swimming is my main exercise but first time out it hasn't tracked a stroke. I do rest for 30 seconds every 10 lengths or so but I was expecting some data
