I’ve had my charge 3 for a couple of years now. Still in perfect working order, and held a charge for about 6 days.
Last night, the app told me there was a firmware update. I plugged it in, charged it to 100% and pushed the update, 20001.88.11.
This morning, 8 hours later, the Fitbit is completely dead. It won’t turn on, if I plug it in, nothing. If I plug it in and hold the side button for 20 seconds, nothing.
Was this firmware update for such an old device designed to brick them, to push sales into newer devices?!?!
I am so furious and mad I even pushed the update!

FYI - I contacted support over the phone.
I was told that, and I will quote "The update would not have caused the device to fail, because devices are updated all the time about once every two months".
I was offered a 35% discount code for Fitbit's store, since my device was outside of warranty. A charge 5 on your site is $149, while Amazon just had it for sale for $99 for almost all of December.
A 35% discount doesn't even get me close to what a Charge 5 was sold for months ago, and it's a 500+ day old electronic device.
This whole process has felt like a complete insult from fitibt.

Mines doing similar things since the update and it’s a charge 4. It died completely for a few days wouldn’t hold a charge more than an hour or two. Then randomly worked fine for a week. And I was thankful I hadn’t trashed it..
now legit 1 week and two days since I finally broke and updated.. I charged it yesterday fully. And now the screen won’t cut on at all. And if I touch the side button it vibrates aggressively. More than I’ve ever felt it vibrate in the 2-3 years I’ve had it.

I did an update on my fitbit charge 4 about 2-3 months ago, and the update made my battery life really bad. And just this morning I can't sync it.
