Charge 3, discrepancy about calories burned

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Sometimes when I exercise my Fitbit is saying I burn far to many calories, for example today I worked out for 1hr and 18 mins and according to this watch I burnt 3,020 calories, that’s 38 calories per minute, I think this is something I am not capable of doing and I feel like I am losing trust in my watch, what do you think is going wrong here?

Are those calories just for the workout time, or is that daily total so far?

Check your Fitbit weight.  If it is entered way too high, that makes it count as excessive calorie burn.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

It’s showing the actual calories for the workout not for the day

Hello @Mrheavywater. It's great to see you around. @JohnnyRow I am also glad to see you around and thanks for your input.

@Mrheavywater I'm sorry for any inconvenience. I'd like to let you know that your Charge 3 combines your basal metabolic rate (BMR) the rate at which you burn calories at rest to maintain vital body functions (including breathing, blood circulation, and heartbeat) and your "activity data" to estimate your calories burned. If your device tracks heart rate, your heart-rate data is also included, especially to estimate calories burned during exercise. The number you see on your Fitbit device is your total calories burned for the day.

Your BMR is based on the physical data you entered in to your Fitbit account (height, weight, sex, and age) and accounts for at least half the calories you burn in a day.

Hope this helps.

Did you check your weight as I suggested?

Yes everything is fine as weight imputed etc this fault happens sporadicly, when I am working out and I look down to my watch it’s normal calorie burn then the next time I look it will shoot it to 3000 calories on the watch display for that workout?

this is not normal, in fact if I could achieve these types of performance I would be the greatest sports person in the world, who on earth can burn 38 calories per minute? I am wondering if I have a fault in my device. And this is a intermittent issue and yes I have checked everything is inputted correctly weight hight etc is correct.
