Charge 3 display brightness

Will the Charge 3 have the ability to have the screen brightness adjustable?  During the night it would be great if the display does not mimic a high intensity flashlight and scald retinas, and during the day it should be bright enough to view in full sun.

@littlesprout hold on the left button to get to the brightness settings.

My Charge 3 very rarely brightens. I quit trying to see time or date or responding to vibrate indicators. I cannot read the face in the sunlight or at night. Every once in awhile it shines brightly in bed when I roll over.

I agree with you and I have a Charge 3.

I have the same bad experience with display brightness. When I first used it I was impressed with how bright it was but now a few days it's dim when on the "normal" or "auto" settings and completely unreadable on the "dim" setting. It is still more than half charged so I can't believe it's the battery running down. I can't find a way to get it back to where it was when I first opened the box. Any ideas how to get it back up to decent readable brightness?

I am having the same issue.  Would be nice if the brightness was able to be set manually instead of automatically.  I can't see anything on the screen just sitting in a normally lit room, but at night when I move just right, it lights up the room.  I thought maybe it needed charged, but when I plugged it in, it was at 87%.  Arghhhhhh……..

You can't.  I returned mine because if was virtually impossible to read/see, and purchased a Withings which I find so much better.

Call Fitbit. They will check it out while connected with your Fitbit. If
under warranty will replace if needed. I had a similar problem on two
units. My third unit has been working great.

Thanks for taking the time to write this answer. I appreciate that.  I’ll call Fitbit though you might agree with me that 1 out of 3 isn’t so good an endorsement for Fitbit.

This is why I bought an iWatch and have not worn my Fitbit for months...

I just had to switch back to my Versa from the Charge 3.  Couldn’t see the display at all while running. Love the size of the Charge 3, but the display is unusable outdoors.

Hey KMJ, I agree even while walking it’s hard to read. I check my current
bpm after I done just before cool down. Might go back to my old strap type
transmitter and wrist watch.

Yup.  I gave up on it.  Shame, it's a nice looking piece but I have to believe that Fitbit knew the display was far to dim but still sold it to us suckers.  I ended up buying a Withings with a traditional face and I love it.  30 days on a charge.

Due to the pandemic I have been walking and bicycling more and I have been out both during the day and in the evening. It seems to me that the brightness setting is only applicable to the main display. When in exercise mode, on a sunny day the display seems to only be using the dim setting even if auto or normal have been selected previously in settings. I’m out of the warranty period so there is nothing that Fitbit support will do for me. I had a band problem with my Fitbit Charge 2 out of warranty and Fitbit wouldn’t do anything for me at that time. Luckily for me, at the time the Costco return policy for electronics was more liberal than it is now and they gave me credit for my Charge 2 and then I bought the Charge 3.

Yes, have had my charge 3 for about a year now and it has three settings for brightness; dim(totally useless), normal (okay indoors and inshade without sunglasses) and finally auto, (switches from dim to normal).  If you're looking for a bright display to read outside in the sun, don't waste your time and money on the charge 3!

Really, unless the tracker has an e-paper or LCD dont plan on being able to read in direct sunlight or plan on only getting a few hours of battery life.

On the charge 3 swipe

to settings. There is Choice for brightness, dim, bright and auto. I was happy to find it because mine was on dim
