Charge 3 display is not turning on

My charge 3 screen has gone black for the second time within a week.   I previously had the lines running down it and I reset it successfully.   The black screen will not reset.   I finally allowed the battery to completely die before charging it.  The display came back for just a day and 12% of the battery later, the screen is unresponsive again.

I'm sorry to know that you're still experiencing difficulties with your Charge 3 despite trying the troubleshooting steps that were shared on my previous post. That said, because the display of your Charge 3 is still not turning on, please follow the next steps to perform a long restart process and let me know if the issue persists:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

Keep me posted.

Hi @Psychojinks, welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for the details that were shared, your effort troubleshooting your device before posting over here is also appreciated. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know if the heart rate sensors are flashing or is your device completely unresponsive? If you haven't already done so, I recommend you to check our help article: Why isn't my battery charging on my Fitbit device? and let me know how it goes. Such article includes a restart process which can be really helpful for this situation.

Looking forward to your reply.

The heart rate sensor is working. Other information shows up in the app.
I do miss having my steps recorded in the app.

The issue seems to have started after the last update.

I have have a black screen which will not reset. I was just going to let
the battery completely die again to see if it resets again.

I have been having the same problem,

. When I try to do a long restart I never get the 7 short vibrations (only two) and it does not shut down. I have also lost the notifications/alerts on the device.

I took my fitbit off the other day and it refused to wake up.  I did the multiple steps and it successfully woke up.  Last night,  it refused to wake up again.   I did the multiple steps and my fitbit is not doing the pulsing.  I did the multiple steps,  even charged it overnight.   It refuses to pulse and yes,  the heart monitor green lights are on although it doesn't stay flickering but will go dark for several seconds.

The last update did not improve my fitbit because that is when the issues of the black screen issues started.

Hi Ricardo

I have a similar issue and have tried the troubleshooting but the screen is still black.

I can feel the vibrations and also my fitbit is syncing to my phone its just the screen.

Can you advise please?

Thanks

Amy

Doublecheck to see if your device is switched to sleep mode. Somehow mine was and when I flipped things back to original I was able to get my screen display again. They don’t tell you about this feature so I was just searching and found it. Good luck

How do you do this on your phone? I cant see anything on my fitbit (its a black screen) so would have to do it remotely?

Go into computer and sign into account/dashboard. I had to play around until I found the setting. I sync mine from device not phone so I was able to find it there. Or, call the help line and have them guide you through it

I let my fitbit die completely. Charge it and then it's back.
