Try selecting a different clock face within your phone app. My watch is about 3 months old, upgraded a 4 year old Fitbit. Last evening when reading, I noticed an unfamiliar vibration with my Charge 3. When I looked at the display, blank/black. When I went to manually activate the display, blank. I had just charged it the day before, so that couldn’t have been the problem.
My phone stats seemed to be working. Searched problem, went through reset process, nothing. This morning same, blank display, but my phone indicates it’s still tracking sleep and steps. I tried everything again to get the display to work, nothing. I was getting ready to call customer support when I happened to read one post that they simply changed the clock face within the phone app. Wow!! I know, it makes no logical sense to me either, but It’s working, at least for now, I love the watch, but for the price, apprehension has set in, I’m now promoted to question the quality of the product. This should not have happened. I’m taking a we’ll see approach.

I follow this recommendation and it works.
For now, the problem solved.
Is Fitbit will make an effort to find a better solution?

I had exactly the same issue, and the same fix worked. Suddenly the display when completely dark, though the Charge3 appeared to be working correctly in all other respects. I changed the clock face to a different one, and back on it came. Then switched back to the original face ... and for now still working. I should add that this is a replacement unit I got from Fitbit (good customer service when the prior one fried. It's all of a few weeks old.
