Hi my new charge 3 is blank and when I charge it and try to restart it using the side button it just vibrates with a blank screen.

Can I just point out what a completely ridiculous situation this is ...that a supposedly hi tech new gadget has to be reset by changing the clock face. You couldn’t make it up if you tried.

Yeah, I just changed the clock face and it worked like a magic.

This solution worked for me too.
I think the Fitbit people are letting us down badly (and themselves) by not fixing this immediately. They will lose people if they don’t get their finger out.

I was able to fix this exact issue by changing the clock face on the app, then the Fitbit realizes that, wakes up, and the screen is functioning after that

Wauw thansk a lot! I was kind a desperate. It worked. Smile on the fitbit and on my face 😏. It is weird though that so many people have troubles with it.

I am having a similar problem but mine does not vibrate at all and the screen only turns on when it's on the charger and I am holding down the button for 8 Seconds and that's the only time that the screen turns on and it it's not paired either because it wasn't working so I removed it to try to pair again and I went to settings on the Fitbit I'm pushed about device to look at the firmware but had pushed reboot on accident and now it will not pair at all

In case anyone from fitbit monitors this issue, I too had a similar problem with the charge 3.
The screen would not turn on, but it would vibrate and the heart rate light still worked. However, for me, resetting the device via plugging it in and holding the button for 8s seemed to fix the issue. Syncing with the app after it restarted was very slow. It took restarting the app, reconnecting Bluetooth, and an hour to fully sync, but, luckily, no loss of data except for when I removed the device to reset it.

If you switch clock on the app it'll turn back on. If you can't sync then you're outta luck.

Thanks exfarmer67 I had the same problem and tried your fix. And it worked

Same problem here. New watch for Christmas, battery at about 85% but screen black, though vibrating when pressing the side.
I fixed it by a previous commenter's suggestion of plugging it in and holding down the side for 10 secs until the happy face appeared.
Sounds like a software updated is sorely needed. Shame that the solutions have come from the community and not Fitbit themselves.

This worked for me, too! Just used my phone to change the clock face and the display started working again. Resetting the watch didn't do anything except vibrate. Thanks for sharing this solution!

I am having the same problem. Did you ever get a reply back about what you should do or how to fix the problem?

My Fitbit charge 3 screen was working just fine, then I plugged it in to charge it and now screen will not turn back on. The button still vibrates like it should but the screen does not light up. It still syncs with the app but I just got this for Christmas and would like it to work again

This method used by CVShort also worked for me. I have had the Fitbit Charge 3 for less than 4 was. This morning the display stopped working. Even though the battery was about 80%. First I tried charging it but that didn’t work. Also tried holding in the button to no avail. Then I read this post put the Charge 3 on the charger and hel in the button for 10 seconds and it came back to life. Thanks.
