Charge 3 display won't turn on

I’ve had my Fitbit Charge 3 for two weeks, as I was walking out of work I noticed the screen was black after wanting to check what time it was, I thought the battery was dead so I connected through the USB cable and nothing happened except the flashing green light on the back, I tried the troubleshooting method where I gel the side button for 8 seconds and the screen remained black. I’m extremely frustrated because it’s basically new!! And I don’t understand what went wrong. If anyone one could help me with what to do next?

It's great to see you around @Maha_kha and @DIANARom welcome to the Community.

I appreciate all the efforts in trying to fix this issue. @Maha_kha upon checking with our support team, I was told that you have already contacted them. I know they will be glad to help you out and provide you a solution.

Now @DIANARom, if you haven't tried the restart process, please do the following:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button to restart your tracker:
    • Press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

Hi AlejandraFitbit,

Thank you for the instructions.  Your instructions worked to get my Fitbit going again.

Can you tell me why it went Blank in the first place?  I don't want that to happen again.

Thank you,

Tessi

Now about your inquiry @Tessiwe are not sure what might have caused this, but we would expect this to be a one glitch and I would ask you to keep an eye on your watch, and in the case this happens again, please let me know and I will be glad to further investigate.

I am having the same problem. Just a little while ago my Fitbit 3 locked up and won't respond. I tried your re- boot instructions but it is still non responsive. I have had the product about 4 weeks. Any other ideas?

Thanks

Just happened to my fitbit. I changed the clock face and it synced it and started working. I switched back to original face after sync.

Y’all guessing. I’ve had same problem with my Charge 3 two times in a month.  The watch was a gift October 2018. The first time it happened, around mid Dec 2018, of course I performed the reset process first, it did NOTHING.  By chance I happened to read a message that the user went into phone app, changing or selecting a different watch face selection.  I tried it, and it worked. Well, it happened again yesterday, 1/16/2019, I noticed the blank screen while I was reading, though the watch is and was syncing with my iPhone properly  I, once again, first went in to the phone app, selecting a different watch face.  It worked. Why?  This is ridiculous.  Fix the glitch please.

Best Answer

Try selecting a different watch face in the app.

I’m having that exact same problem it lights up still, but the display stays black no matter what.

Best Answer
Try going into your phone app and select a new clock face.
I was first advised to reset the device. Tried it, multiple times, it did nothing. Blank face has happened to me 2x now, but iPhone app is working, tracking all stats. Both times, I was quietly reading when the screen goes blank, for no reason. Mystifying. I’ve had my Charge 3 since Oct 2018, a short 3 months.

My Fitbit charger 3 the screen is black what do I do?

Best Answer
Try going into the app and selecting a different watch face. This has happened to my device 2x, reset did nothing. I have no idea why it’s happening, nor why selecting a different watch face works.

I've had the same issue today, blank screen but the watch still vibrated whenever I pressed the button. Charging and trying to restart didn't work but changing the watch face has brought it back to life. Thanks for the suggestion!
