Hi my new charge 3 is blank and when I charge it and try to restart it using the side button it just vibrates with a blank screen.

Hello everyone!

@Bob- and @Sherylness, I am glad to hear that the instructions provided worked and that your trackers are now working properly. If there is anything else we can help you with, do not hesitate to post it.

@arsenio1016, I would like to know if you have tried to change the clock face? If you haven't, I recommend trying this by following the steps in the help article How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device?.

See you around. Smiley Wink

My Fitbit Charge 3 was working fine till yesterday.  I had it charging the night before and thought it was all set but it didn't work all day.  I connected it to the charger and got the smiley face but nothing else.  I can't get the screen to work. I don't know if it's charged at all.  I've tried connecting it to different USB port plugs to charge even to labtop and still nothing.  I don't know why it just stopped working it was at 48% 2 days ago.  That's why I tried charging it.  Any suggestions?  I've read other posts about pressing the button for 10 seconds and when you get the smiley face take it off the charger.  I've tried that several times and nothing!!!  Beyond frustrated as it is only a few months old!!!!!!

Change the clock face so it resets 🙂

Place on charger, the hold reset button for 20-30 seconds. You should get a smile face then Fitbit should be operational. This is like rebooting ones iPad or laptop when it freezes up.

Mu Charger 3 was working fine until now. Screen blank. It vibrates but nothing else.

Try putting it on the charger and then holding the on button (on the side while it is still on the charger).   When I did that then a 🙂 came up and I tapped that and took it off the charger and it’s worked fine since.

Thank you. That did the trick.

My battery had died so I put it to charge for hours and still the screen was black so I pushed the side button to turn it on but it just vibrated . Should I send it back??  I tried the long reset it didn’t work also on the app it isn’t connecting so I can’t change the face. What are you supposed to do after the smiley face because after that my goes back to only vibrating and being just a black screen

Best Answer
I'm no expert but what worked for me was: with the charger on the watch, press the charger on the side against the on/off button and hold it down until the smiley appears on the screen. The secret here is pressing the charger which will also depress the watch button.

Good luck.

When I had that problem, I used the Fitbit app on my phone and changed the
clock face on my Fitbit and fixed the problem. I wish you well.

This is happening to me right now.  I had the notification at 10:50 this morning that I needed to take more steps for the hour, I go to check how many and my display is dead as a door nail.  Plus it isn't tracking any steps that I take today (great).  Of course my charger is at home and I am at my desk at work.   I will try the solution that everyone has suggested when I get home and hopefully that will remedy the issue.  I've had this tracker just since Christmas. Ridiculous.

Welcome on board @mlnb1972, it's nice to see you here! If the Charge 3's display won't turn on, but your device is still syncing you can try changing the clock face to a different one to see if that brings back the display.

If this doesn't work, you can definitely try restarting your device once you get home.

Let us know the outcome!
