I have been having the exact same issue with my Charge 3 after having a swim last Friday. I'm feeling very lost without it & have tried everything suggested to try to resolve the issue but to no avail 😥

My fitbit charge 3 display isn't working. I have tried changing the watch face and both restart methods suggested. Is there any other thing I might be missing? My charge 3 battery I charged.

I'm no expert, just a fitbit owner myself. I was told to:

1. Go into the fitbit app and change the clock face to an analog clock face. In my app, I have two options for analog.
2. Then put the fitbit in the charger and do a hard reboot which is holding your fingernail in the indent for 15 seconds.
3. I also let the fitbit fully charge before I did the first two steps.

Nothing helped so I contacted this link:

I had a web chat and found out that my fitbit was too old and out of warranty so they sent an email with options to purchase some models at a good discount and I purchased a new one. Other people who have fitbits that are still under warranty have had theirs replaced for free. I would contact them and find out where you stand. Good luck

Have tried all of the above suggestions still vibrates with blank screen. Screen was fading, did update still had faded screen, tried restart, screen now black. Have changed clock face, restarted multiple times, still black screen. I am reluctant to go back to factory settings. Should not have to replace a device that is 31 months old.

Correction 21 months old.

This issue has plagued me for the past year as well. On 2 occasions by following  the troubleshooting steps I was able to get the display to work again. Unfortunately the 3 time this happened was the last time the watch would ever display even after performing all troubleshooting steps. I inquired about the warranty, it was too late, my warrant period had just expired. My advice is if you are experiencing this issue exercise your warranty for a replacement instead of troubleshooting - as it is only a temporary fix. I was offered a 35% discount toward the purchase of a new Fitbit. I have no interest in taking the risk on buying a new Fitbit given this well know issue and lack of proactive measures to notify customers by Fitbit.
Thanks, Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Sorry to hear you've had the same problem as I've had with mine.
I bought another one in May, and two weeks ago, the new one wouldn't
recharge. The cable seems to be fine, its the freaking watch. This was my
last fitbit ever. Its the fourth Fitbit in 3 years. I'm officially done
with it, not buying another fitbit ever, and will be warning others to
follow suit, unless they can afford to buy a new one every year.

They don't always work accurately either, so that's another reason I won't
be getting another one. I'm just so happy I was never suckered into buying
a premium app, cause that would have really given me a bad day.

I just wanted to post my feelings about the Charge 3.

My wife has had a Charge 3 since end of 2018.

Due to various problems; water ingress, battery not holding charge, black lines on screen, she has had it replaced 5 times over the last two years - all under warranty.

Finally we can be shot of this Fitbit fiasco as the 6th unit has now failed with a totally blank screen and now outside of warranty.

We couldn't be bothered to contact support as even if their discount was 75% we would never touch another shoddy product like this again.

Best of luck to all remaining Charge 3 (and maybe Charge 4) owners.

I am also having this problem. I have also done the hard restart which brings the display back for a minutes and then nothing. When it is on temporarily I cannot swipe through the screens. My fit bit charge 3 isn’t that old and this is how my other one died.

Thanks for sharing this Alejandra. Mine is a bit of a peculiar problem. I have done both the 8 and 15 secs restart none has worked.

Now I can't try the changing the clock face option as I am using a new device now and pairing it requires that I see the number on the display which not coming on. Can you help with any other suggestion for me?

Oh yeah, those clock faces aren’t even available for the ones I had. I could only choose from about 5 faces. Another ripoff

I'm just a Fitbit user and your issue is nothing that I've come across and if you can't read your display, I can't see how you're going to get it to work. Personally, I would contact Fitbit after the weekend and if it's under warranty, they should send a new one free of charge. To be honest, I'm on my second and the display is broken up. When this one dies, I'm going to shop for a different brand. Good luck.
