Charge 3 distance information inaccurate

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I bought a Charge 3 in August and have had nothing but trouble with it. It is very, very bad at tracking distance. Fitbit has admitted, multiple times, that this is a design flaw that they know about (I have the emails) but will not do the decent thing and refund my money.

What is wrong:

- The same 6 km route that I take daily, by walk has been measure as varyingly as 4.5 km to 6.2 km

An example of the 'support' Fitbit offered me:
- Try switching off the automatic exercise recognition

- Even if you are walking, try setting the exercise to  "Run"

- The eternal  "reset the pebble"

They know it is not working.  They even admit it. But will not refund.

It's great to see you here, @sridhu.

I understand how are you feeling and appreciate the information provided. Fitbit devices calculate distance based on the device’s accelerometer data and stride length setting.

Default stride length is based on your height and gender. If available, Fitbit devices use GPS data to calculate more precise distances. When you sync your device, our algorithm interprets the data from the device, and you see your distance traveled in the Fitbit app.

Note that when you track an exercise with GPS, both GPS and accelerometer data are used to calculate the distance shown in the Fitbit app. For more information about this, you can check the help article: How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?.

Let me know if you need anything else. 🙂

Thank you for your reply

It would have been great if you had taken the time & effort to familiarize yourself with the facts of the case before answering

We have gone over all this in that mail thread and I have proven to your satisfaction that the pebble does not work.  You have admitted this multiple times in that thread.

And changing the thread title without cause is basically censorship.

I do want to warn people NOT TO BUY A CHARGE 3 as  it is a defective design by your own admission.

I have given up on you doing the right thing. I just want other people from being similarly cheated.
