I have had this charge 3 for 19 months and my resting heart rate is typically 52 and walking uphill it might get to 118.
Today my rates rates are about 50% higher. It is saying I had 11 hours in the cardiac zone.
Could the sensor be clogged with sunscreen or something else going on with the device?
It might be coincidental, but it wasn't able to track my sleep last night and it typically can track my sleep.

Hello @treepruner. Welcome to the community forums!
Thank you for the detailed information. Regarding your question, I'm not sure what could be causing this discrepancy but I'd recommend performing a restart to your Charge 3. You can complete the restart by following the instructions here.
If you don't see any difference with the resting hear rate and your Charge 3 still doesn't track your sleep, I'd recommend performing a long restart, a long restart is different than the basic one and you can complete it by following the steps below:
If the inconveniences persist, please provide the following:
- Since when have you been experiencing the heart rate issue?
- Does the discrepancy happen when you are doing anything on particular?
I look forward to your response.

I had already done the regular restart last night and no change. I will do the extended restart shoeletly
Now I have an additional problem. The password reset to get into the forum has fouled up my phone app on my android phone.
I was able to reset the password, but it isnt saving my username with the pw in google. When I click the icon for fitbit, it is using my new password, but it isnt saving the email address,. I get triggered to set up a new device.
Uggh

I did the long restart and I am still showing heart rates about double what they should be. This started yesterday morning.
I was finally able to connect to the fitbit app on my phone and it did monitor my sleep last night.
My heart rate while sleeping is close to typical, not anything while awake, sitting at computer, walking, walking up 8 flights of stairs is about 50% higher than it should me.
I am wearing the fitbit on the same arm and in the same location and doing the same things I normally do. Today it thinks I have already had 10 hours of cardio!

The heartrate never got back to normal even after the 15 sec restart and now it is completely dark, but vibratea randomly.
I took it off last night to shower, put it in the charger. I put it on without thinking about i. After a few minutes it was vibrated, but the face wouldnt light up. Then I noticed the green light wasnt flashing.
I have tried plugging it into the charger and doing a short and long restart. I feel it vibrate when I hold down the button, but no smiley face or progress bar. I have tried plugging the cable into different usb chargers.
It won't sync to the phone either.

@treepruner Thank you very much for your reply.
I am sorry for the inconveniences and thank you for following the recommended tips. At this time, I'd like to let you know that since the inconvenience with Heart Rate and now the issue with the Charge 3 that is not turning on or syncing persist, I'd recommend contacting our Support Team for further assistance.
Note that you can contact them through chat or over the phone, but phone wait times have been longer than normal, so I recommend initiating a chat. Click here to get connected.
Make sure to explain the inconveniences and the troubleshooting steps you've followed, this way they can further assist. On a side note, it seems that you were able to resolve the inconvenience with the password since you mentioned: "I was finally able to connect to the fitbit app on my phone and it did monitor my sleep last night".
See you around.

Since yesterday my heart rate monitoring has doubled as well. It thinks I've had a heartbeat of around 110 BPM since 8pm last night. I've checked with a good pulse oximeter and it's 66 BPM. I'll try the long reset like you suggest.
