Charge 3 doubling steps and floors count

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

After updating my Charge 3 with the latest software, my step count is counting two steps for every one, as well as the floors climbed. It is showing me reaching my step goals way earlier than I should, and I haven’t changed my exercise routine since the update.

Thanks for the participation in the Community @sbs1.

If your tracker is doubling your information, I recommend restarting it by doing the following:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button to restart your tracker:
    • Press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

I hope this helps, let me know the outcome. Robot Happy

Brand new Charge 3 bought it 5 days ago. Same problem. Have done this instructed restart. Have it set to non-dominant arm. Adjust the stride length and it's STILL super-inaccurate. Counted 12 steps as I put it on this morning. Then doubled my walk distance and steps this morning. With 1200 STEP before I got out of bed; 0 minutes of activity.

With the inaccuracy happening BEFORE I even put it on, this seems like a device issue.... Not a setting issue..

This makes me sad. And frustrated. I've owned two Fitbits in the past and had a bit of an issue with one before adjusting the arm placement. Then no problems after that...

Already read a bunch of forum posts with similar problems and have yet to see an acceptable resolution.

And now I have to deal with returning this thing after spending $150. Ridiculous.

Same issue since the update. I have restarted, deleted and reinstalled both device and app...still counting 20 flights when I haven't done ONE! So sad because I am outside the return window.

My Charge 3 fitbit just started doubling all my steps, floors and calories. I just rebooted it so I'll see if that helps, but I have to say I'm very disappointed. Not sure what I can believe.

Mine has been doubling steps since I got it; I have tried everything except resetting the app. Will do that now! Very frustrating!!!!

Did not work for me....I realize the original post is 2 years old, but felt it applied to my fitbit problem...

Didnt work for me either. I should be a super model by now according to all the flights of stairs it says I climbed!

Yep, same here.  This is just starting to happen to me:  doubling the step count and then randomly going back to the right number.

I have tried this several times.. It does not work.

this is exactly what is happening to me... did you find a solution?

It stopped happening, so I’m hopeful that the gremlins just went away.  But I didn’t do anything 😐

This just started happening to me also within the last few days.  I've had it since April and this is the first time I've seen this problem.

I had the same problem.  Following this advice immediately corrected the problem - reset my steps back to half of what was displayed on the fitbit watch. (The app was always showing the correct number.)  I think it took a little longer than 8 seconds.  Thank you.
