Charge 3 floors and battery issues

My Charge 2 didn’t track stairs at all. Today I earned my Skyscraper Badge for 100 floors with my Charge 3. Except I climbed about 4 flights of stairs in actuality. It seems I get credit for 10 floors just getting out of bed. What’s up? It also runs out of battery very quickly and it’s maybe a year old if that.
