Charge 3 frozen

Went to charge my Fitbit, and it just stayed on the clock screen. It won't change with swiping, won't show the battery charging icon, nothing. Don't know how to reset the Charge 3, the instructions don't seem to work, or I'm on the wrong Fitbit.

Help.

It's great to see you around @gailc53.

If your tracker is frozen, I recommend restarting it by doing the following:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button to restart your tracker:
    • Press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

It worked.  Thank you.  I wasn't holding down the button long enough.  TG it started to work again.  I'm lost without it.

Thank you.

I had same problem. It wouldn’t swipe or change display but it did recorded my activity as I could check it on my iPhone.  When I attached mine to charger, the battery icon would not display but got a white horizontal dotted line which stayed displayed. I left it for a while I then tried the restart. Held the side button for a bit longer than the recommended 8 seconds. I did feel it pulse and then a smiley face displayed. I removed it from charger and the device now seems to respond to the touch swipe.

I have a similar issue as my time screen appears locked and wont go to the next screen etc when tapped. I have tried holding down the side button for 8 seconds to reset, but nothing happens and I do not get a smile as I believe I should do. Any assistance great appreciated.

I used the solution info from the post to which I replied with my slightly different results although the main one that it resolved the issue was the same. If their solution doesn’t work for you I would suggest contacting the Fitbit help desk. Good luck.

I keep seeing this solution printed out nice and neatly.  What if my fitbit is frozen, and when I plug it in following reset instructions, it's still frozen. So, no charge icon, no vibrate, no reset.  Since the firmware update, I've had to charge my charge 3 6 or 7 times. When I charge, it stays frozen so I can't see how much is charged.  Then it stays frozen for an hour or not after I put it back on.  Eventually it starts to work again, miraculously, but the heat rate monitor only works sporadically.

I see a lot of posts with these issues, but moderators keep cutting and pasting the same response, which isn't working.

Can we delete the last update please?  How?  Or is there a fix for the HUGE mess the update made?

Thanks for any help at all.

I've found this fix works, so I thank you. But, it happens at least every couple of months and should happen only very rarely on such a name brand with a high price. Will not recommend this Fitbit to anyone who asks. Never had this problem with prior Fitbits, and there are plenty of other well-rated fitness trackers out now.

My Charge 3 is only about 6 weeks old and whilst away recently the screen froze rendering me unable to grab any updates. As it takes so long to sync to my phone, i found the weekend use rather useless?

I have once i got back home have been able to reset my charge 3 using these reset instructions, with the use of the charger lead that was also at home and it is now working again.

Many thanks.

Thank you @AlejandraFitbit, I tried putting it on the charger then taking it off and holding it down because it just makes sense to hold it down in order to restart it. Either way I was wrong I followed your instructions to a T and is now working again. Thank you so much for your assistance

Thank you for your solution! Initially I tried to reset it without plugging it in but it only works if it is plugged in!
