I was having issues with my fit bit not showing notifications, I plugged it in and now it won't turn on and when I plug it in, it gets hot. It isn't turning on but still gets hot when I charge it.

I am having the same problem. When I attached it to the charger it didn’t make the happy face, but I left it attached because the screen was black and unresponsive and it looked like it had run out of charge. I checked it about 45 mins later and it is so hot to the touch! Still not functioning. Help, please 😞

Sorry you're having the same issue. Fitbit doesn't believe that are any issue and have offered no help. They offered 25% off retail  ($102) on the charge 3 that I could get for about 40% at Costco $89.  I went to my credit card company because it was within an extended year and they refunded me my money and I bought a new charge 4. No repair  per fitbit.   I just read a bit about this happening a lot and everybody getting the same answer from fit bit. An offer of 25%.Good luck.

Unfortunately, I have the same exact issue! Nothing displays on the screen, hot while charging etc.....I originally thought maybe it was something I had done wrong but So many others have the very same issues. I guess as we have all experienced the same issues and the company won’t replace it, then they should at least offer a repair. It’s sad because they know it’s a faulty product and won’t do anything to correct the issue.

I agree they have an issue.  It was just past the 12-month mark on one and the other was 14 months.  We had great success contacting our credit card company under the extended warranty they offer.  Both units have been replaced and paid for by them.  AMX was a little easier.  They simply called and ask a few questions.Chase had us send it in and wait.  They then ask us to buy a new one and submit the claim which we did.  They also paid.  It just took a little more effort and time.
Not happy with Fitbit however I have purchased the 4 and my wife has a new versa which is ok for now.  The 4 does not seem that much different than the 3 so unless you need the new enhancement you can purchase the 3 cheaper than they are offering to give you a special deal on from them direct.
Good luck

I appreciate the very useful information. I did in fact purchase my fitbit with my VISA card, however im not to sure of details on their extended warrenty; but i will definitely give them a call. If all else fails, i will buy the 3 as you suggested, it just makes sense!

Thank you

Hi,

I have the same problem here. I charged my fitbit. When I took it out of the charger, it was hot and it wouldn't start up. I put it back to charger, it got hot again within 10 minutes on the second time. It seems like people are having very similar issues. I have only used this new device for 3-4 months.

Hi David,
Unlike myself who's Fitbit was out of the warranty period, If you have only
had yours for 3-4 months you should contact Fitbit directly and they will
replace it for you.
Good luck!

You should return or replace since it is still on warranty.  It does seem like it is a issue.  However fitbit refuses to admit it.  There is no repair.  You might see if they will upgrade your replacement to the fitbit 4.  Good luck

Just happened to me today! I have no idea why. It wasn’t turning on (even though I never got a notification my battery was low) so i charged it and then hours later I got it and it was hot and still not turning on.

Both my wife's  and mine were 13 months old and they said there was nothing they could do since it has a 12 month warranty.  We contacted them about my wife's within  the 12 months.   We were out of country and it was 13 month.  Bought with AMX who added another year and they were great about replacing both.  They had us buy what we wanted and credited the amount we spent.  Fitbit was HORRIBLE and offered no help.  If I didn't like it or had a better low cost choice wouldn't ever buy another fitbit.  Good luck.

Agreed. I spent more time in a year sending my fitbit back than I did getting to wear it. Finally after the third time sending it back, I also sent the charging cable. Third time is a charm and my Charge 3 finally worked. Of course, now it's having the heating issue.

I found it to be the charger on the not charging issue after sending it back 3 times.
