I have read every article on how your Fitbit should be worn for exercise, sleep, normal wear. They heart rate monitor is always off during exercise, compared to a chest strap, it's not even close, spend half the time trying to position it to get an accurate reading. Reading 160 when my hr is 100, IF IF IF. It can even detect a heart rate.
i have reset it, I've cleaned it. It's most basic function, it cannot do correctly. Check I have it linked to my fitness pal. Some days for some reason it just double the calories I consumed? No reason. I did a very light 50 minutes on an elliptical today. I spent the whole time fuddling with the Fitbit to get reading. It was wildly off.
it also told me I burned 2500 calories during this exercise? I mean come on how do you even fix that.

It's great to see you here, @SunsetRunner.
I appreciate all the efforts in trying to fix this heart rate issue and the attachment. Since the steps you tried didn't work, I've gone ahead and escalated your case to our support team, for them to take a deeper look at this. Please keep an eye on your inbox for further instructions.
In the meantime, let me know if you need anything else. 🙂

Wish I could help. As @AlejandraFitbit said, Fitbit reached out to me. They sent me , guess what! And article on how Fitbit detects your heart rate, and how to wear the monitor. Exactly what I already said I did and read. When I replied to them, I got no reply back.😩

I LOVE my fitbit, don't want to live without it, i've already had it replaced under warranty once, I would just like it to work correctly. I've been freaking out for a couple days thinking my heart rate was through the roof. I'm going to try calling customer service tomorrow...

@AlejandraFitbit Well support was largely not worth the time. Referring me to articles that I already told them I tried.
resting heart rate is still of over 10bpm.
workouts? Yeah good luck with any accuracy. My chest strap is accurate to a manual heart rate measure.
Really close to being accurate during a workout. Only off 16bpm on average over 30min. That's about the norm. My heart will be 160 and fit bit tells me it's 115. The most basic function.....is poor at best.

Sadly I had to give up, very disappointed my fitbit was not working at just 6 months old
