Just bought a Charge 3 just a few days ago. From the first day I noticed that the floor count is way off. On the first day I took a trip and drove about 500 miles and my Charge 3 counted 8 floors despite the fact that I did not climb any stairs (step count was certainly off as well). Today I walked / ran 5K and it registered that I climbed 16 floors!
I bought the Charge 3 because of this feature but I am starting to regret that I didn't go for a cheaper model. Any ideas of what might be causing this?

My floors counts are still all over the place. Completely useless. Two days ago I traveled 6 hours on my car and got 300 floors climbed. I even got a new badge, celebrating that. Ridiculous! Last week I woke up in the morning with 6 floors climbed. And I was not even dreaming on climbing stairs...
What I don't understand is why fitbit is getting so long to fix this.
I used to have a Charge 2, and it counted floors pretty well.

Totally agree with everyone who is not satisfied with this, its complete BS. I ‘swapped’ from Ionic to Charge3 when my Ionic totally screwed up about 13 months after I got it. Up to that point it had worked perfectly and accurately on all features. I spoke to Fitbit support and they gave me choice of either an Ionic free of charge or half price on another model. Sales person recommended Charge3 bigging it up saying it was better than Ionic (turns out has no built in GPS though so isnt better anyway). Had it two months and both floors and steps are inaccurate. Steps are miles out, total joke. Fitbit - you market these as fitness trackers, not watches. SORT IT OUT! If I wanted a watch I’d buy something that looks good. I want an accurate fitnesa tracker simple as. I’m going to complain and get another Ionic as at least it worked when it worked so to speak.

Edit - i meant my floors were way out, but steps is dodgy as well.

Mine too. Counts random floors all the time. Hundreds of them. Presumably calorie usage fixture is incorrect too.
Very bad design. Needs to be fixed

Today the Fitbit says 120 floors when I actually climbed 6-8 flights. I walked 7 miles on flat terrain. I’ve had issues since getting the charge 3 in Nov and ‘bought’ that changes in temperatures from outside cold to inside heat could cause it. Today’s miscalculation is the worst and the weather inside & out is similar. After reading all the posts, it’s apparent that something’s wrong and needs a fix.

I've continued to notice the inaccurate floor count. In fact, it seems to be getting worse. Previously if we had very high winds the floor count would jump. Now it jumps on sunny wind free days.
Would love to hear from Fitbit what their plans are for correcting this.

Money spent in Charge 3 is disappointing. Device is nit counting floors any near accuracy. I have Fitbit One also. For 30 ft up stairs , One counts three whereas Charge 3 may be Zero or any thing but three. Higher no. could be 33 also. Regretting for this expenditure

This is horrible. My two previous Fitbit HR devices were spot on in counting flights of stairs. There is no logical excuse when older generation devices worked accurately and new devices completely fail. Unacceptable from Fitbit.

Am I being condescending or the floor count is working better now?

It is obvious that the Fitbit company does not care about the problem on the stair counter or does not know how to fix it. The stair counter is the main reason I chose the Fitbit

So I can verify, after a trip I just made, that my Charge 3 is counting floors when I go up in the highway (bridges and overpasses). I got 27 and 30 floors in the past two days. On the second day, I actually took note of the times I was going up the highway and compared to the report times.
How can I get rid of the wrongly reported floors so I can keep the legitimate ones?

They didn’t even bother to explain what is going on. Fix it, not at all.
If i am not mistaken, the Charge 2 used to count stairs climbed sensing atmospheric pressure variations. The Charge 3 is now waterproof-closed. Maybe they needed to find out another way to track stairs climbing. It’s clearly not working.

I’ve had my charge3 6 months. Floors worked fine until three days ago. Each day getting worse. Today I did 3 and it says 177. Steps look ok but I’m guessing calories are off to. Am I reading in other comments this is common and Fitbit is doing nothing to fix?

Yes, that's it.
I didn't see any comments from fitbit about this issue.
