Charge 3 is constantly vibrating and screen going on and off

All of a sudden the Fitbit keeps vibrating then the screen keeps switching between click face and the notification screen. Had to take it off. The charge is at 42% so it’s not battery life.

Hi, I am also having this issue after having the Charge 3 for about only over a year. I had the Fitbit Flex (original) prior to this and that one lasted me several years (like 3-4 years), I upgraded just because I wanted a new one but not because the Flex stopped working. It seems like the Charge 3 with this issue is a fatal flaw as how many other people are also responding to this thread. Mine is vibrating at random moments, the screen is flashing on and off, the screen becomes unresponsive to my touch, seems to be clicking stuff on its own, and this happens even when it is connected to my computer charging. I noticed that a progress bar shows up on the Charge 3 when connected to the computer but it gets stuck and stays with that bar showing on the screen until I disconnect it. I tried the smiley face reboot option and also the reset (Swipe to the right until you get to About, scroll down, Clear User Data), but none of these fixed. I forgot the Bluetooth device from my iPhone, removed the device from my Fitbit app, and nothing works. I presume it dead.

Will try customer service to hope for a replacement but at this point I may go elsewhere and look at the Apple Watch, only issue is longevity.

I sent my first one back for this reason(had it for about 6 months)

Got another for free under my warrantee. It started the same thing(vibrating and screen going crazy)

I put it out in the sun to see if some moisture got into it.

After a day in the sun, the problem went away.

All I can figure is the fitbit is not waterproof as advertised.

Maybe store the fitbit in a container of rice when charging to keep this problem away.

Also, don't wear it while washing your hands, swimming showering or anything else near water.

I spoke with a support agent regarding this issue and they said that they could only offer a discount toward a new Fitbit product. (I asked if I could receive a replacement for this current tracker and the agent said that they could not; I told him that I had a previous issue with the original Fitbit Flex and it was replaced after about two years of use, but he said they are following their 1 year warranty policy strictly now. I bought the Fitbit Charge 3 in April 2019 and it stopped working in July 2020. Sheesh.) It's unfortunate as this seems to be a noted issue with this particular model based on how many people replied to this thread. On to a new search for a reliable tracker with longevity. 😕

HiThe reason I bought the charge 3 was to swim.I had a charge 2 & upgraded purely for that purpose!!The fact that my pool has been closed for 5 months is neither here nor there 🤪If it can't cope with a shower then it is definitely not fit for purpose.I am expecting my replacement this week 🤞Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

I’m in Unites States which only has a 1 year warranty for some reason. I purchased a new one using the offered discount so fingers crossed.

They know it’s a defect. They have to with all the complaints and issues. However, they will not stand behind their product and replace them unless they are still under warranty.

Ran into the same problem; constantly switches between screens and vibrates until the battery dies. I've had similar problems with other 'waterproof' devices. Eventually the seals go and if any moisture gets in, it's locked in. My device is about 2 years old so past warranty.

FIX: I put it in a bag of rice for a week. Yes, it really does take this long and even longer depending on the relative humidity where you live.

It works fine now but I'll never let it get wet again which is a bit annoying because that was one of the selling features. And when it stopped working, it wasn't submerged. I had a shower with it on.

Hi,

Thank you for the trick. I’m definitely going to try it. I don’t wear mine in water at all, but could have gotten a little water in it from washing hands or something. Thanks again.

Thanks for the tip. However, it rather defeats the object of having a charge 3.I am using my old 2 atm.Just have to remember to not get it wet 😳Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

After reading many responses to my message. One of them referred to the tracker getting wet. He put it in rice for 3 weeks & then charged it up & it was working again. I recall that mine had gotten wet when washing dishes but didn’t dry it right away as I usually tried to do. After that is when mine started acting up. I had already taken the bands off it & stuck it in the box it had come in. It was in there at least 3 weeks or more.... decided had nothing to lose did the reboot & plugged it in. It has been working again minus the phone notifications & lighting up when I raise my arm to check time, etc. Seems to track everything except sleep. When this decides to die again I will be buying a GARMIN
