Charge 3 is not tracking floors accurately

Have just brought a Fitbit charge 3 and it is not registering stairs correctly. Have walked up 2 sets of stairs today but it’s registering 44!  Any ideas how to sort this out?

Welcome on board @Bomba101, it's nice to see a new member in the Community Forums!

Your device uses both an accelerometer and altimeter to track floors, and registers a floor when detecting continuous motion combined with an elevation gain of about 10 feet.

The Charge 3 may give you credit for extra floors for a variety of reasons. Devices may track floors while doing everyday tasks such as opening doors, driving, or riding elevators or escalators, or from abrupt weather and atmospheric pressure changes Exposure to excess moisture can also result in extra floors. We recommend that you wear your device loosely during exercise.

If you want to remove floors from your account, I recommend following the instructions provide in the help article How do I edit or delete Fitbit data and activities?. And please don't insert anything into the altimeter hole on your device.

I'll be around if you need further assistance!

Fitbit gives canned answers about some variations due to yada yada- obviously not.

Meaningless Canned answers

i got same answer on separate inquiries SEVERAL TIMES before to no avail.
no amount of AP updates or firmware updates helps this issue.

There is no support and no help for this hardware issue. Fitbit FAIL

charge 3 stairs simply do not work.
Charge 2 was much more accurate

charge 3 is minimum 10X-20X wrong.

Absolutely with you on this.  Regularly get 200-300 stairs a day. My initial suspicion was that it went out of whack after the first pool swimming session,  but if others get these crazy stairs without swimming first,  then it is definitely a hardware flaw.

I’ve never gone swimming with mine and just yesterday I got 110 flights but only did about 6.

Most nights I even get a couple flights while I sleep.
I’ll Have to check how many steps it adds when I drive.

My wife and I both have had charge 3's for a year now and we thought they used to be pretty reliable for counting floors, but now they are both totally worthless -- usually clocking over 100 flights a day when it should be more like 10-20 at the most....everything else seems pretty accurate as I have used it swimming, as well as hiking, playing tennis, mowing, and walking 2-4 miles daily.

The stairs thing is a real bummer. We up-graded from earlier models which were much more accurate...why can't they use the equations from those earlier models is a mystery to me.

Problem is - they have your money and the don’t care.
Firmware upgrades over a year have not helped. I never even took mine in the shower and it was never good on flights.
No product support for this.
