Charge 3 is tracking too many floors

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Starting yesterday, my Charge 3 is tracking way too many flights. I normally average 30-40 flights a day. My Charge 3 tracker is already showing 260+ flights today. I have walked my normal paths today but have scored 3 'badges' for exceeding flights which I have not done. I have shut down the tracker and restarted but it is still adding flights, even when sitting at my desk. How do I stop and reset this? Why is it happening. This is day 2 of excessive flight counts.

Hello @PJDec. It's great to see you around.

Thank you for the detailed information and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried prior to posting. At this time, I'd like to let you know that I'm not sure about what could have caused this inconvenience, but take into consideration that your Fitbit device may give you credit for extra floors for a variety of reasons. Devices may track floors while doing everyday tasks such as opening doors, driving, or riding elevators or escalators, or from abrupt weather and atmospheric pressure changes. Exposure to excess moisture can also result in extra floors. For more information, see Why does my Fitbit device count extra floors? You can also find more information about tracking activity in this help article How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?

Please note that you can’t delete steps and floors; instead, log a non-step-based activity such as driving to override the steps or floors. For more information, see How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities?

If the inconvenience persists, I'd recommend trying to perform a long restart by following the instructions below:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

Hope this helps.

None of these suggestions addressed the issue and it continues. I got my Fitbit weekly update last night and I had over 1400 floors in one week. Duh... should be exhausted after that. But no, I'm not... because I didn't climb that many floors, hills, or any other vertical incline. For first 3 days of this week, I am already at 797 floors. I apparently now climb stairs in my sleep. Or when I sit perfectly still. Just to try to make clear, for the week of Aug 1, I climbed 211 floors that week, or an average of 30.1 a day. The week of July 25, I climbed 189 floors, or average of 27. This is normal. What is now appearing on my Fitbit is not normal. I don't know if this is a hack or what, but it hasn't stopped. And your line above that normal daily tasks might add floors is bogus. It never did it before and I have had Fitbit products since 2012. Please provide a real solution.
