Charge 3 logs sleep when I am not sleeping

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Charge 3 ALWAYS logs sleep when I am watching a movie. I have gotten up to make popcorn or go to the bathroom and it won’t even show me as being awake during that time, it will just show me as restless. It has even shown me in deep sleep when I was definitely wide awake. This makes me not trust it at all at night, and I know it will often show me in light sleep when I am laying in bed awake. Any thoughts on whether or not I can fix this?

Hello @Lianne_D. It's nice to see you around.

I'm sorry for the experience and thank you very much for taking the time to provide your feedback. When you haven’t moved for about an hour, your device assumes that you’re asleep. Additional data such as the length of time your movements are indicative of sleep behavior (such as rolling over, etc.) help confirm that you’re asleep.

If you’re not moving but not asleep for long periods of time it’s possible for your tracker to falsely record sleep, in which case you can delete the sleep log from your history. For instructions, please check the following link under: How do I edit or delete sleep logs in the Fitbit app?

In addition, if you believe that your Charge 3 is not recording your sleep activity accurately, please try to change the sleep sensitivity setting. For example, if your sleep is now set to "Normal", try to change it to "Sensitive" and test your Fitbit device. Take into consideration that normal mode can work well if you make significant movements like rolling over, your device records time spent awake. This setting is appropriate for most users. In sensitive mode, your device records nearly all movements as time spent restless or awake. This setting may be helpful if you wake up feeling tired even though your sleep history shows sufficient rest.

To change your sleep sensitivity setting:

  1. In the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab, then tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Advanced Settings > Sleep Sensitivity and make your changes. (Note that the instructions may vary depending on the model of your mobile device)

I also recommend visiting the following link for tips and suggestions about sleep: How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?

Lastly, please perform a restart to your Charge 3: How do I restart my Fitbit device?

Hope this helps.
