Charge 3 no longer synching with windows 7

It worked flawlessly until last week.  I can no longer get it to synch with the fitbit.com.

I have:

1) Restarted computer

2) Rebooted fitbit (repeatedly)

3) Deleted data on fitbit to try to start over.  That only led to the time being 4 hours off.

 

Every bit of advice involves either using a phone app (which I will not do) or installing the FitBit connect from Microsoft.  I argue against that because it was just working beautifully until last Monday!  Unless they have decided to force people to the app, I don't see why I have to install extra apps on either my pc or phone.  Is anyone else having this problem?

This device has been designed to sync with the Fitbit app on iPhones and iPads, Android phones or Windows 10 devices as stated in the User Manual. You might be able to sync with devices different than the ones mentioned previously but in these cases we cannot guarantee an optimal performance.
