Charge 3 not getting text messages from iPhone

Since upgrading to Charge 3 I no longer get text messages from my I phone to the Charge 3

I did everything multiple times and in different order as well. I finally
called fitbit and complained. They sent me a “new” Fitbit charge 3. Just
the actual Fitbit. No band or charger.

It worked.

Be aware!!!! I had mine exchanged. Now I’m having the same issues with the “new” one!!! I am saying “new” one, because that is what Fitbit told me they would send me. But I had to learn it is a refurbished one which seems to still be connected to the previous owner?!?!?! Fitbit is keeping me on hold for a solution since July 2019!!!!! At that time my charge 3 was just about 7 month old!!!
They are just apologizing and thanking for my patience which I have lost long time ago! 
they don’t care at all and don’t take responsibility for their cheap devices that don’t function 100%

I’m sick and tired of this BS company!!!!

When is this issue going to be fixed? This is the only reason I bought this fitbit and it hasn’t worked for months. Please advise as to when it will be resolved

Ok so I FINALLY got it working. The issue seemed to be the Message - Notifications - Always (default).

They keep telling you to go to Notifications, then messages, but it is Messages first, then the notifications on the message screen. 

Works like a charm - not sure why they dont do a better job of explaining the fix but I got it to work and I am not one of the fitbit trolls that just says it works when it isnt.

Awesome!!! I got it to work as well. Been frustrating for a year but it finally worked . Even tech support could not help figure this issue.

Ok I’m probably being really daft but I can’t see messages without going into the notifications. Is this in the Fitbit app? Or settings on the phone?

I have an iphone so if you don't not sure this will be much help - but what triggered it for me was this.

In the iphone Settings - Notifications - Messages - Make sure ALLOW NOTIFICATIONS is toggled on. under SHOW PREVIEWS - make sure it says ALWAYS or WHEN UNLOCKED

THEN go to the Fitbit app - Click on your FACE in the top right. Find your device, ie Charge 3 - and click on that. 

Charge 3 - Notifications - Calls (toggle to on if you want them), Text Messages (toggle to on if you want them) and the same for calendar events. 

Have someone text you and see if it works. That is how mine worked. Good luck!

My Fitbit 3 hasn't received text or phone notifications for some time. I just spend ANOTHER 40 minutes troubleshooting it with customer support.

I originally called Nov 1st and they said the issue was with IOS13.  I got the same reply today.

It's been almost 6 weeks and you still haven't been able to resolve the issue?

Trying to get text messages on my Fitbit Charge 3 from my iphone.  Followed all instructions but the pop up doesnt come up Bluetooth Pairing

Unfortunately the only way I got mine to work is to turn on previews under messages. Go to settings>notifications>messages> and under “show previews” select Always or When Unlocked. But if you’re like me and don’t like text messages showing a preview on your phone for the world to see, you won’t be able to use this feature on the Fitbit. Pretty disappointed by this.

Ah you’ve solved it!! I too wasn’t get text messages through anymore on my charge 3. Just stopped working for me a few weeks ago... all other notification type messages were still showing on the Fitbit... all except text messages. I’ve just turned on preview in the message settings on my iPhone and voila! I too disappointed you have to display the first few lines of text message in my phone especially if I leave my phone visible on a table. Is there any way round this? Thank you

You’re welcome! If you choose “when unlocked (default)” under show preview on your iPhone, it should still work on your Fitbit. And it will only preview your message if your phone is unlocked or if you are looking at your phone if you have face recognition activated. If it is just sitting on a table and you’re not looking at your phone, it should only say the name of the person that messaged you.

Did you ever get this sorted. I have same problem and see it goes back months so I’m tempted to return charge 3 for refund?
