I concur with Lisas response at this point if the heart rate is not even being visually displayed on your Charge 3. On mine it showed up but was not updating. Does it show up on your phone dashboard even if it doesn't update?

I would call customer service (rather than email) since in my experience you'll get a quicker response, although that was last year.

I would initially follow Lisa's advice from last week which I will post again here in case you have not seen it.

Swipe the face 3 times to the left.

Tap on SETTINGS

Swipe up to HEART RATE

If it says OFF then Tap it once to turn it ON

Best of luck

I emailed to Fitbit team, they couldn't do anything too...so just get
another one...that's their way out. I bought Garmin vivosmart4

That is not the answer to every problem.  It is sett o on, no lights, no reading

That is not it for alot of these problems.  Charge 3 is known for being on and not working, that's the obvious

Thank you SOOO much for suggesting such a simple solution. Now my heart rate is back after having lost it (still alive) after 1/2 with my new Charge 3.

Best solution for me at least.

I’m also having an issue with the heart rate since the last firmware update.

I have been seeing simplified sleep tracking over the past week or so and then today noticed that the heart rate wasn’t logged during my morning swim. Checking the heart rate graphs shows that the heart rate is missing for about half a day each day - so it’ seems that it’s working intermittently. I guess the simplified sleep logs are as a result of the lack of heart rate info through the night.

The green light on the back of the Fitbit appears to be on and so I think that heart rate monitoring should be turned on - problem is that I have been operating with a dead screen (which died a month after warranty !)  for the past couple of months and so can’t check (I can’t find a way to check settings from the app - anyone ?).

It seems that my Fitbit is dying - time to look at an Apple Watch ?

My 18 month old Fitbit charge 3 suddenly stopped monitoring heart rate 2 days ago. The green led light is not illuminating.

Without heart rate monitoring, the Fitbit isn’t recording calories burnt, sleep etc. correctly and is effectively useless to me. I have read this full thread and have followed all instructions given and settings checks suggested, to no avail.

My charge 3 has worked perfectly up to this point, so I am hoping that someone out there can help me get it back up and running.

Kind regards.

If the green LED is not flashing periodically then there is something
far more serious going on than the heart rate monitor disabling itself.

Have you tried resting the device while it is on the charger? - My
device has "locked" up a few times - its certainly not super reliable in
that regard! But a reset "fixes" that.

Failing that I'm not sure what to suggest other than calling the fitbit
service department.I did that last year after mine stopped detecting
various exercising options (mostly swimming) automatically and they
eventually sent me a new one FOC so that may be worth a try.

Best Wishes and good luck.

Thanks for your response.

I left it on charge for 24 hours. It was 100% charged when I removed it from the charger. Incredibly, the charge, which normally lasts up to 5 days, only lasted 2 hours. I think you’re correct in that there is something very seriously wrong with my device.

Thanks @LisaSWelch

This solved my problem. I had restarted mine and it still wasn't working. I imagine I may have turned it off by accident when swiping through in poor lighting. One key thing to note for anyone else having this issue is that you need to go to the settings ON YOUR FITBIT, not on the app. Small thing, but I confess when the mod originally suggested going to the settings, I assumed it was on the app. Lisa's note about swiping through, clued me in that this refers to the settings on the physical FitBit not on the phone app.

Thank you again!

Mine shows heart rate on the watch itself, but quit showing heart rate on my phone several months ago and I've tried several things to fix that but nothing lasts. I can turn my phone's bluetooth off, and then reconnect, and it will show heart rate then, but as soon as I do something else, it has quit again.  I even re-synced and got nothing.

I don't think you're understanding the problem, the device itself is reading the heart rate, it's getting real time updates on the app, but if you go back over the last few days it's showing that there's been no heart rate since a particular day in my case the last day it recorded was October 22nd, I'm still getting real-time heart rate data but it's not recording the days anymore
