Charge 3 not syncing or tracking cycling since last update

So a couple of months ago I finally did the update for my Charge 3, which is no just over a year old.  It took ages to update and I had to restart it when it hadn't made any progress after 24 hours.  Since then it syncs once in a blue moon (last time was November) and it won't track my cycling when I use the option on my charge; instead of it giving me distance all my indicators except time are zeroed.  I make sure the app is active on my phone before I start which used to work, but doesn't now.  I've had several Fitbits in the past and the only reason I have this is because my husband won it at work.  I've found them unreliable in the past and it seems nothing has changed.

My version is 28-20001.8.8.11

I also seem to have lost the ability to set up an alarm using my phone app, though since it won't sync that probably wouldn't work anyway.

I've tried the checklist for sync issues; done the reset, reinstalled the app etc and I don't have any other fitbit trackers to delete from the app/bluetooth.  None of the other bluetooth items I use are currently turned on so they won't be interfering either.

In the end I used the online chat and we got it syncing again after connecting it to another device; once that was done it was happy to sync with my original device.

I can't be of any help but the same thing started happening to me several days ago.  The last time it synced was Dec 30, 2020 at 7:48 p.m. while it was on the charger.  The phone is now off by more than an hour and it just will not sync after trying and doing all correction processes.  Very frustrated.

I  am having the same problem. I thought I'd sorted it by uninstalling my Fitbit & reinstalling. However, it only synced once after the reinstall and now will not sync again.

SO FRUSTRATING!!

I had to do a reset and clear data on the tracker. Lost all my data but at least its syncing. I got in touch with fitbit they opened a case to look into the problem. Received an email today. Their solution...... Buy a new compatible device (phone) that is on their list of recommendations! I sent back a very sarcastic reply. I have to buy a new phone so my fitbit will sync. REALLY thanks for nothing !!!

My phone isn't on the compatible list either, I refuse to get a new one though as it's still a perfectly good phone and if I have to ditch something it'll be the Fitbit, not my Huawei P10 Lite!  It has at least synced again today, but who knows what will happen next time it gets updated; that was what stuffed it this time.

I used chat with a rep. to help with the problem even after I had disconnected the bluetooth and have my android 8+ re-find it. Checked for updates to my phone and fitbit but both were up to date. We also verified the version #. I was told, "sorry for your inconvenience, our engineers are working on a solution to this problem". I can get it to sync by plugging the fitbit to charger and doing a snyc that way. It takes several attempts even doing that though. I wish they would take responsibility for the problem and credit towards the purchase of a fitbit that works. My last one was an alta that worked good except the battery wouldn't take a charge after 2 years. This problem is different. Patiently waiting on the engineers.

Mine is still refusing to sync on my android 8+ as well; it looks like they stop supporting devices as soon as they get oldish as far as phones are concerned so mine isn't supported.  As a result if I ever get a wearable device again I will not be going with a Fitbit.  I've had issues with my previous ones as well (charging and breaking issues); this one seems to be better made physically, but is useless for what I want it to do, which is to track my cycle rides properly
