Charge 3 not tracking bike activity accurately

Hello,

I am using FW 44.33 and during a 30 min bike activity, the charge 3 will disconnect and reconnect several times during the activity. It vibrates every time and it is quite annoying.

I have also noticed an automatic stop of the bike activity once and several gaps in the activity records displayed in the app.

Any idea about those disconnections?

Thanks,

Marc

Welcome on board @hebralm, it's nice to see you here! Thanks for taking the time to share the situation you experienced when GPS tracking a run with your Charge 3.

Your Charge 3 uses connected GPS which works with the GPS sensors of your phone. Probably, your phone lost the connection while you were running. This may have happened as a result of different environmental factors such as tall buildings, dense forest, steep hills, or a thick cloud. That may interfere the signal.

I'd recommend turning off Wi-Fi on your phone when using GPS for a better experience.

Also, try the following:

  • Open the Fitbit app to reestablish a connection with your tracker.
  • Reboot your phone.

There are also some requirements you should check out. Please take a look at this helpful article for more details on this.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

My Fitbit Charge 3 does not track bike ride distance accurately. It used to work flawlessly but no longer tracks distance. On a several mile bike ride it will only log a few tenths. Samsung S8+

I've rebooted my phone. Checked app permissions. Unpaired and paired my Charge3. I've kept the Fitbit app open during the activity. Nothing works. I think there must be a software incompatibility issue between my phone and Charge3. Seems like the connected GPS function doesn't work!

I am having the same issue with my Charge3. It used to record fine couple of weeks ago and now its recording wrong information on the same path with same phone and fitbit device. A 10mile bike ride is recorded as 0.8miles even though the map shows the accurate bike ride path i drove. These kind of issues keep happening on software end which is very annoying.

Had to buy a new phone to resolve the issue.

Is there anything else we can do outside of these instructions?

I live in Florida, there aren't any tall buildings or forests in my area that are interfering with my GPS tracking. I think this is a software issue that needs to be addressed, because I can run other GPS apps that work perfectly fine, but the fitbit tracker just monitors my heart-rate and says my daily 10mi bike ride is 0.0mi - 0.3mi. I have intentionally used the biking activity, and do not use the auto-tracking feature as suggested in a different support post.

I really hope you all try to fix this issue. Thanks for your time.
