Charge 3 not tracking floors

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

This is my fourth day of having the Fitbit Charge 3. It does not track the floors climbed. I realized this on the second day and looked at the blog and reset it as directed. It worked for one day I woke up in the morning and it did not work that day then recorded one floor but not the rest. Today I did the same thing tried the reset but it’s not working at all for the floors climbed. Any ideas?

Welcome to the Forums @Pfkoss.

Thanks for troubleshooting this floors issue by yourself. Your device uses both an accelerometer and altimeter to track floors, and registers a floor when detecting continuous motion combined with an elevation gain of about 10 feet. Because the device looks for continuous motion, pausing when you go up a flight of stairs can cause the device to not count the floor.

Your device may count less floors than you think it should for a variety of reasons. Not all flights are the same height or distance, so if the flight you climbed is less than 10 feet you may find that the device's floor count doesn't exactly match how many floors you climbed. Exposure to excess moisture can also cause result in fewer floors.

I hope this helps, let me know how it goes. Man Happy

As the previous poster stated- I have the same issue.

It worked fine when I first got it earlier this year (given as a gift in January) Then it just STOPPED counting floors. Every day is "0", despite my daughter (who I take care of) lives on a 3rd floor apartment, and my apt in another building is on the second floor.

As the previous poster stated- I have "rebooted" the thing so many times.

It's still under warranty isn't it?

Most residential homes do not have 10 foot floors. It's frustrating that Fitbit will not change the algorithm. What's the worst that will happen? Some people will get extra floors! The rest of us are running up and down stairs all day without getting any credit. I have gone up 20 flights of stairs today and have credit for 7.
