Charge 3 not tracking sleep stages

My charge 3 is very intermittent when recording my sleep pattern. It mostly records a basic pattern it has only recorded a detailed pattern about 3 times since I got it 3 weeks ago. I’ve tried moving it’s  position but no luck. Am I doing something wrong?

A real person will ask you to perform 100 tasks that will do nothing to help your problem. Speaking with a live person is basically futile. I would keep an eye on the forum to see if Fitbit acknowledges the problem and puts out an update that actually address the deficiency.

Ridiculous. Won’t elaborate.

I see these issues relating to the Fitbit charge 3 not recording sleep stages. I just got mine this past month and it is not recording sleep stages. I’m surprised to see complaints going back 1 year or more on this issue. Did the company not address the problem? I’ve done all the updates and followed all the tips in all of the comments and replies. It’s just recording basic sleep info without patterns, and even then it’s not automatic like the charge 2. I have to sync it every morning. It’s disappointing.

@Raeharb06 Your method works for me. I deleted logs for last night and last Friday, then manually added back the sleeping time and I got all my sleeping stages for both nights. Obviously Charge 3 is able to capture all necessary data but somehow the app can’t convert it to stages if using “begin sleep now”.

This worked for me too for last night! You definitely have to delete the data and re-enter, rather than just editing the information. I was also able to go back and do the same thing for a sleep cycle from two nights ago. Thanks!

Thank you for your post on entering start and awake times after the fact. It worked for my wife. For some reason I never have the problem of sleep not being recorded but she does frequently.

Yeah, I have gone through these steps (from several different messages) and deleted, restarted, rebooted, reloaded, tapped my heals 3 times, counted by 3's backwards. All the same result. Hours of sleep tracked with no detail. 3 hours per night, 5 hours per night. 1 time in the last 2 weeks was it almost correct. It is almost as if it is recording it as a nap and not sleep.

Forget about Fitbit, their Software/Hardware is terrible. I switched to Oura Ring to track my sleep a year ago and I'm very happy customer.

My Charge 3 recorded sleep stages and gave me a sleep score for months. Suddenly 4 days ago it stopped.

I've reset it, my app is up to date, it's charged, I'm sleeping far more than 3 hours, it's recording my heart rate, it's positioned on my wrist as directed.

Is there something more to try? Sleep is the reason I got this device.

My wife has a similar issue. The fitbit misses her sleep 1 to 2 days a week. She manually enters the time to bed and time she get’s up and the fitbit then picks the stages of sleep and duration. Very frustrating.

Ive used the Alta HR i borrowed for weeks and it measured my sleep every night, just bought Charge 3 yesterday and my first night of sleep - no sleep stages  that is worrying.

This happened for me, too, when I upgraded for 90 days free of premium I lost my sleep stages tracking. Now it only shows awake and asleep...

Pain but works

1. make sure you have your blue tooth on and make sure it has synced in the morning

2. Take note the asleep and wake time. Delete the log and re input your asleep and wake time. You should be able to see your sleep stages now

This 100% definitely does not work....

That’s unfortunate, I suppose I should be grateful about my slight annoyance then. Because for whatever reason my sleep only shows restless, asleep and awake. Once I delete it and then manually enter the exact awake and asleep times my sleep cycle shows up. I was skeptical that it was even correct but I keep track of each time i wake up in the middle of the night and the sleep cycles seem to be matched so 🤷🏻‍:female_sign: But it most definitely does work for quite a few people. Prior to this I did all standard methods, reset, sync, unsync, delete fitbit all together, etc

These posts are over a year old. Why no actiin from Fitbit?

My Charge 2 worked intermitantly, so I got a Charge 3. Worked great for a couple of months then stopped showing sleep stages. Hasn't worked for 2 months. Tried delete/add suggestion. Doesn't work. Guess my next one will not be Fitbit.

I really want to get the Charge 4, but some of the reviews comparing sleep stages say it's sadly just as bad. You can put lipstick on a pig... but it’s still a pig. Oh well, there are plenty of other brands of fitness/sleep trackers.

Or just don’t sleep. Tech support told me that sleep tracking is not really an important feature
