Charge 3 not tracking sleep stages

My charge 3 is very intermittent when recording my sleep pattern. It mostly records a basic pattern it has only recorded a detailed pattern about 3 times since I got it 3 weeks ago. I’ve tried moving it’s  position but no luck. Am I doing something wrong?

My Charge 3 records my sleep stages, but it only shows me getting 3 or 4 hrs of sleep each night.  I know I usually get about 7 hrs of sleep ea. night.

I am having the same problem with a very occasional sleep stages but generally I get the basic sleep pattern. I have tried re-booting both the app and the charge 3 device. I have moved the device to every known position on both wrists. I do not use the manual sleep option. If I get a really strong heart beat record throughout the day why not at night. I have tried removing the sync through day option as suggested and also making sure the device is fully charged to no avail. My problem seemed to start from a software update about 3 months ago. To me the sleep stages are the most important aspect. Please don't recommend me doing anything that has been suggested on the community forums. I've tried them all. Surely it has to be a software issue since it used to work perfectly.

Just got a Fitbit charge 3 specifically to track my sleep, and I've worn it snugly on my non nondominant wrist, for several nights with NO results. Ive tried "going to sleep now" as well as going to sleep without setting it. It doesnt want to track any sleep stages other than deep sleep and awake. Its fully charged etc. I'm ready to return this, huge disappointment.

You have a manual?!!! How do I get a manual? All that came in the box were basic rudimentary startup instructions.

Thought i had found the solution by strapping it on harder which have worked for quite some time, but now out of nothing it just havent registered any sleep score for a week nomatter what i do.

 

But guess there isnt any plans of updating SW as this for sure is a bug somewhere.

There's no rhyme or reason to the problem. It works one day and doesn't another. Records half a nights sleep...very erratic, very disappointed

I am having the same problem. I just got my fitbit charge 3. It recorded my sleep correctly for 2 days. The last 2 nights it started my sleep record 3 hours after I went to sleep. My wife has the same fitbit and hers recorded correctly. I am getting ready to return my fitbit. It gets 1 more night.

There is clearly a flaw with this device and/or its software. Today I got my heart rate, but got a messed up sleep record. It's hit or miss! I got my Fitbit to track my heart rate. I developed Atrial flutter and need to monitor my heart to determine whether I need to adjust my meds or curtail activities. Looking to see if there are better products out there. I feel like I'm part of a Fitbit Beta test!

That's a great solution. I was only getting light sleep registered and when I followed your suggestion, it worked great. You're right though, it is an annoying solution. What changed?? It was working fine until recently!
