Charge 3 not tracking sleep

Bought my Fitbit Charge 3 on Saturday. Tracked my sleep first night, hasn’t since for last 3 nights. Have to keep putting it on charger and restarting. Few hours later it appears on watch and phone. Can’t keep doing this! Any ideas?

My wrist unit does not record sleep, but my dashboard does, so I'm happy with that

Which brand records sleep?

It's an interesting thought because I gave my old Fitbit charge 2 to my partner and I have the Fitbit charge 3 and we both wear them in bed.  Could the app be confused about who's wrist is getting recorded on the app?

There is an idea... Does Google have an app for that?

I am still researching.

Thank you very much for this very thorough analysis from a scientific point of view which I appreciate and never did myself as it probably took a lot of time to develop all of this to explain the problem with the charge 3 app.

Fitbit needs to correct this problem. It seems like I have to reset my charge 3 every 3 days to get it to work probably. Is that where it got it’s name? Perhaps frustrating 3 would have been better. I loved my charge 2, but after upgrading to the Frustrating 3 it’s doubtful that I will ever buy another Fitbit product.

Mine has actually been working for awhile except for a weird one night
glitch. I have the app loaded on my iPad, so I don’t know if this will
help on any other devices/platforms.

When the sleep data doesn’t show up, which still happens from time to time,
or it’s just plain inaccurate (shows four hours of sleep instead of the
nine that I know I got), all I usually have to do is close the app. To do
this, press the home button twice so all the apps show as thumbnails, then
swipe up on the Fitbit app and reopen it. You should be good to go.

If that doesn’t fix it, I do a reboot on the iPad. It’s not that big of a
deal to me now that it’s mostly working.🤓

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve tried everything. I even spent over an hour with a Fitbit tech. I think it might have something to do with the Fitbit not being compatible with the iPhone. It actually worked fine until an update then it stop functioning correctly—not just the sleep mode, but also the steps. It’s really their worst product. I noticed on Amazon it has a low rating...so it’s not just me.

I found and did the reset process,  the sleep hours were synced to my phone but the icon on the wrist unit still does not display the sleep hours, that function only worked for the first 3 days and I have had the fitbit now for just 18 days, it is a birthday present from my children!  Awaiting your suggestions, thank you.

You have a short window to get a refund. Get it now! This problem is a year
old. Wait for Charge 4 or change brands.

Is it possible to get a refund if this problem is not fixable?  I purchased it this year... 😞

I got a refund. I think you have to do it within 30 day after purchase.

I’m sorry but I don’t have any suggestions, other than restarting it, which
I think you’ve tried. I really don’t look at my actual Fitbit except to
see the time. I can’t see anything more than that except I can sort of see
the pulse. I’m too lazy to pull out my readers. I read all the stats on
my iPad.

Maybe someone else has a suggestion.🤓
