Charge 3 not tracking sleep

Bought my Fitbit Charge 3 on Saturday. Tracked my sleep first night, hasn’t since for last 3 nights. Have to keep putting it on charger and restarting. Few hours later it appears on watch and phone. Can’t keep doing this! Any ideas?

Hello guys, I hope you are doing fine.

@Lymmeln and @Nicked, since the instructions you tried didn't work, I've gone ahead and escalated your cases to our support team, for them to take a deeper look at this. Please keep an eye on your inbox for further instructions.

@tangerinedogs@Grenol and @paulwilj, since you have already contacted our support team, please stay tuned to your email to see more instructions to follow. Keep in mind that, as recommended previously, you can always manually log your sleep to reflect the time slept. See instructions in How do I change my sleep history?.

@Chrisp1, I am sorry to hear that you returned your Charge 3, if in the future there is anything else we can help you with, do not hesitate to let us know.

Keep me posted. Smiley Wink

My tracker will not log sleep anymore either.   It did at first and now it wont.   ???  I will try restarting it but why the problem to begin with?  This is the "latest and greatest" of the Fitbit line of trackers... I feel like the kinks should have been ironed out by now.

I have another concern... I often use an elliptical...is there a way to track this specific type of exercise w/ out relying on the auto detection?  On my previous fitbit, Blaze, I could select which exercises appeared on my tracker menu. Now I don't see a way to change the 6 options. These dont necessarily work for me and the auto detection has been unreliable.

My fitbit charge 3 is working ok now. It was an issue with the software by Fitbit not my actual tracker.

Already done and money back in my pocket, good bye!

😁

Thanks

Not accurately or consistently, no.  That has been my experience.

Hey guys, thanks for your participation in the Community!

I appreciate all the efforts in trying to fix this sleep issue by yourselves and @Grenol for the feedback provided.

@lucy_brown80, if your Charge 3 isn't registering your sleep, I recommend trying the following:

  1. Manually sync the tracker. See instructions in How do Fitbit devices sync their data?
  2. Restart the tracker. See instructions in How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  3. Try sleeping with the tracker on your non-dominant hand.
  4. If steps 1-3 don't work, I suggest manually logging your sleep to reflect the time slept. See instructions in How do I change my sleep history?

Regarding your elliptical inquiry, yes, you can select this exercise directly from the tracker. If you don't have it between your shortcuts, you can add by following the instructions provide in the help article How do I change the exercises in the Exercise app?. Just keep in mind that we are moderating this thread for users who are having issue with their sleep information. If you are experiencing other issues or have a feature suggestion or improvement, I encourage you to find a similar thread, check out the feature suggestion board or start a new thread.

@SunsetRunner, I am glad to hear that your Charge 3 is working properly now. If there is anything else we can help you with, do not hesitate to post it.

@Nick100, sorry to hear that you have returned your Fitbit. If in the future there is anything we can help you with, do not hesitate to let us know.

See you around. Robot Happy

Returned my Charge 3 for a full refund today.

Nothing worked properly on that device, it was a true disaster. I really hope they get it fixed at some point for the folks that cannot return the devices.

Oh well, both the Garmin and Polar seem to be superior devices and I have a suspect that most of the online reviews are paid..

The Customer support AI did a great job of copypasting stuff that made no difference, but at least they were responsive.

Sorry to say your are most definitely not alone with this and several problems of failure to read or synchronise with the app. Lot of money and short on delivery!

I just upgraded from a charge 2 to a charge 3. It's not recording my sleep correctly. I know I sleep more than 3 hours a night and don't get up at 4!

Ive changing the settings from normal to sensitive and restarting the device.

WHEN IS FITBIT SENDING AN C3 UPDATE TO FIX THE SLEEP TRACKING?  I am tired of being on this thread for many weeks now hearing the same complaints.  I gave up but I keep getting the emails from this thread. B3DB05AD-0543-4EA6-8C1D-621C81FA65F1.png

This is how my sleep stats look week after week.

I have the same problem, and after reading everyone’s issues in this forum, I’m thinking off just returning the device. I’m not not going to spend days possible weeks on end trying to sort something out that should work. Very disappointing.

After the latest update of Fitbit I got sleep data for 3 nights a wee bit better than nothing, I have tried with manual sync 4 times, rebooting Phone (Android)  my fitbit 2 had no problem to sync sleep data, I wouldn't mind if someone at Fitbit could give us hope, the strategy with putting the heads ln the sand won't make the users or Fitbit company happy, so give us a ping back with some information

Do we know it’s not a flaw in the device that can’t be fixed?

Hello there @Plap17@BSCKENT@Alivingston38@GlendalePaul, @AveysG, and @Dupeedy! If your Charge 3 isn't registering your sleep, I recommend trying the following:

Hi @Lymmeln! Since you've been in touch with our Customer Support Team, I'd recommend replying back to the last email you received so they can continue assisting you with issue in regards to your sleep data.

Hi @SunsetRunner! Sorry to hear you go. Please know that we provide feedback to our team based on community posts and we are always working on improving our devices and overall environment based on that feedback.

Hope this helps!

Moderator:

This reply is the reason I no longer participate in these forums.  Once again, instead of the C3 sleep tracker being fixed, we continue to receive the generic reply of same resync/restart/nondominant.  Do you actually think those of us who are multiyear, experienced FB users haven't already done these steps?  The only response I wish to hear is FitBit is releasing a software upgrade to provide consistent sleep tracking.

If I have a ‘proper’ night’s sleep then I only ever get simplified sleep data. However, I’ve noticed that if I’ve had a  poor/short night’s sleep then it sometimes tracks.

Does that help you to work out the problem?
