Charge 3 not tracking sleep

Bought my Fitbit Charge 3 on Saturday. Tracked my sleep first night, hasn’t since for last 3 nights. Have to keep putting it on charger and restarting. Few hours later it appears on watch and phone. Can’t keep doing this! Any ideas?

Hey Fitbit,

where's the fix for my crappy overpriced wearable that doesn't work.

And how in the hell can you mark this as solved when it's not

Best Answer

Its not overpriced, it's  a total disaster..more close to robbing a crowd that used to be happy with Fitbit product's why do not Fitbit comment. Here ? Just a embarrassed silence.

Shame on you Fitbit you can do better

☹️🙄

I discovered something that seems to be working, at least for the last
week. I’m using an iPad for my app and I tried resetting the app by
pressing the indentation where it reads your fingerprint (whatever it’s
called) twice, so that all the apps come up as thumbnails. Then I swept up
on the app to remove it from that screen. Then when I opened the app
again, sleep had been updated. I had to do that a few times this week and
the rest of the time sleep had updated on its own. It seems like a
communication problem between iPad and Fitbit Charge 3. It’s an easy fix
if it keeps working. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Sounds like nice workaround but it would be great if the underlaying problem (Fitbit Corp)

Would care and fix the big flaw in this mess

Can we bump this up and get an answer from fitbit?

Do they respond at all?

Sadly, I've tried everything Fitbit suggested and nothing worked.  I've logged several hours over the phone and chat, troubling shooting with their reps in vain.  I've accepted the fact that the Charger 3 is a flawed device.  The Charger 2 worked like a champ.  I suspect they will eventually come out with a 4 that will address the issues called out here in this blog.  Sorry.

Okay, just a quick update on the Charge 3 and Inspire HR issue about not recording sleep issue we have been having since getting our. Hubby and I both decided not to wear our devices one night and we felt like we slept better than with them on, however we both were very interested about how we were sleeping so back on the arm they went. Again we did not get sleep data, so while I was on the App on my Samsung Galaxy 9, I decided to delete and re-log the previous nights data. I found that once I did that the data was then logged correctly in the App. I know this is just a go around to the problem, but if you are wanting the data try it. That data is on the device but not logging correctly on the App.

Good luck.  Based on the variety of comments and suggestions I have made none of our comments seem to have been elevated. It doesn’t seem that moderators have a connection to programmers. That’s the reason I stopped commenting on these forums. I made an exception here.

I have the same problem as most other people, app on phone shows my sleep and sleep patterns but my charge3 device shows that "sleep not tracked". I have restarted device no change, I have manually synced several times during the day with no change on the device. Every thing else seems to work fine. Any new options or is this something that will  require a firmware update.  Note: currently my firmware is up to date.

My Charge 3 has for sometime been saying on the device that "Sleep not tracked", but I have found that once I delete the log on the App and then re-enter it manually I get my sleep data.

Fitbit has screwed this up and can not undo the latest update. They are struggling and lying to all people that are having and issue. They now say that you should not get a daily update on sleep stages, (see below). They are advertising that you will get these insights, ("just not every night?"). Sounds like fraud to me.

We want to inform you that insights are generated using sleep data and users are not expected to receive an insight every night.
The more sleeps logged, the more insights they’ll receive.

What a joke.  The Charger 2 gave you spot on sleep data every night without fail.

As an FYI, I just spoke to a supervisor named Brian.

He stated that they are aware of the problem and can not fix it at this time. They also have no idea when it will be fixed. There is nothing that they can do at this time to help.

Never had an insight once.

Besides the fact that when I wake up in the morning I have somehow slept walked a mile and climbed more stairs in my sleep.  Then I climb hundreds of stairs sitting at my desk

I had been on an inexplicable run of good logging for nearly two weeks. Last two nights? Back to same erratic reads. Obviously, not every one is having this issue. Or if they are, perhaps don't care about sleep logs. Like I have the weather app issue - but don't really care. I just don't get the inconsistencies a) on any one device, or b) among users.

If they had the sleep tracking software nailed for the 2, how can this bug not be fixed until a 4 comes out!?!?

Welcome on board @NickeyBaySide! We're glad to hear that the issue was resolved after syncing.

Hello @Plap17, @MuzzyW, @jdonnelly02@Lemeh@Superbonbon28, @SunsetRunner, @Lymmeln, @SunsetRunner, @ashley.shehan@Grenol,  and @GlendalePaul!Sleep stages are based on heart rate data, so make sure that you're getting a solid heart rate reading , since sleep stages requires consistent HR. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight. Also, double check that your watch is charged up.

Additionally, I'd recommend checking the following that could be preventing you from receiving sleep stages:

  • If you used the "Begin Sleep Now" option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed).
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.

For more information about why you see your sleep pattern, tap or click the sleep record that shows your sleep pattern.

If  your Charge 3 is still not registering your sleep after reviewing the information above, I recommend trying the following:

  1. Manually sync the tracker. See instructions in How do Fitbit devices sync their data?
  2. Restart the tracker. See instructions in How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  3. Try sleeping with the tracker on your non-dominant hand.
  4. If steps 1-3 don't work, I suggest manually logging your sleep to reflect the time slept. See instructions in How do I change my sleep history?

Hello @BeigeSage! Sorry to hear you go. Please don't hesitate to let me know if there's anything else I may do to assist you with.

Hey there @topmom5! Thanks so much for sharing the steps that worked for you.

NONE of this works, and no it is not resolved. I have had other Fit Bits
so it is not user error or me wearing it incorrectly. It is just a huge
disappointment and a waste of money. I would not recommend ANY of these
products to anyone after this experience. How can SO MANY customers have
the same exact problem and Fitbit not issue a recall!!!!!!!!!

NO, they could care less. This many upset customers then there should be
a recall. It is absolutely absurd. The #1 reason I bought the Fit Bit was
to help me log my sleep. What a waste of money!!!!!
