Charge 3 nothing but issues after firmware update

My son received his Charge 3 for Christmas and he absolutely loved it. After recent firmware issues, he has had nothing but problems. He is so frustrated. He has poured over these messages boards and tried most everything offered as advice.  His charge 3 first had heart rate and charging issues that the help board said required the firmware update to resolve. Although the update did resolve the battery issue where wouldn't hold charge, it has led to other problems that remain unresolved. About 24 hours after update, black lines started appearing through screen and currently up to about 10. His watch is still under warranty and I would like to know what FitBit plans to do to fix all these issues with the Charge 3.  We have had multiple Fit Bit and been very happy to this point but these issues are not acceptable for a watch that is less than a year old given I am wearing one on my wrist that is 3-4 years old and going strong.  Can FitBit not issue another update to correct the update problems or else you know need to be giving all these Charge 3 customers another watch free of charge? Mom of Frustrated Teen who is tired of listening to the decline of his favorite watch.
