Charge 3 out of the box and not working

Hi guys,

I just unpacked my Fitbit charge 3 and set it up via app etc.
The app shows the battery is fully loaded, yet the fitbit doesn't do anything. The screen is completely black. When I attach it to the charger it shows the battery is empty. When I reset it as suggested, the screen lights up and switches off after ca. 4 seconds.
It works as long as it is attached to the charging cable (already 2h). Syncing doesn't work anymore.
I guess I've bought a new, already defect watch?
(The firmware version is 28.20001.88.11)
