Charge 3 recorded 25km, 28000 steps in 15 minutes while sitting

As per title,  my Fitbit Charge 3 recorded a sudden burst of activity while I was sitting still on the couch. It says I walked 28000 steps in 15 mins, a distance of 25km or so. As a result I earned a Cleats badge for sitting still! My heart rate remained around resting so I'm not sure why this happened. I am now wondering if it has been accurately recording up until now, and also how to prevent it happening again. Also is there any way to delete this inaccurate record?

Hello @AoKe, welcome to the community forums! Thank you for the information!

This is very odd. Can you confirm if this is the first time it has happened? In the meantime, I suggest performing a restart by following the instructions below:

1. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.

Currently, there isn't any option to delete steps. Instead, log a non-step-based activity such as driving to override the steps or floors. On the Fitbit App, please follow these tips:

1. Tap the Today tab .
2. On the Exercise tile , tap the + icon > Log or Log Previous.
3. Choose Driving as the exercise type. Make sure the exercise details overlap with the time period your device logged the unwanted steps or floors.
4. Tap Add or Log it. Your steps, floors, and calories burned will decrease for the time period you specified.

I look forward to your response.

Thanks for the detailed response. Logging driving as an exercise for the time period worked, good to know!

I tried restarting the Fitbit but it does not seem to work, pressing and holding just brings up a DND/ Sleep screen and it will not restart.

The important thing for me was correcting my steps etc so thank you for solving that.
